  1. If you go to START/ALL Programs, a shortcut to Windows Update is located there by default, unless it had been delete. It can be accessed from control panel as well. If you can't find it, do a search on windows update from help and support and it should direct you to it.Make sure you scan for viruses with an up to date scanner. A virus could cause virtually any problem so this needs to be eliminated as a possibility.Updating Window Update and your Virus definitions and scheduling periodic virus scans, is the two most important tasks you can do to keep your machine safe.

Your screenshot seems to look fine to me, so I would say your monitor is going bad. Your video card is able to output good video data to the monitor. The monitor just isn't displaying it correctly.Low disk warnings will not cause this.

Yes, the image needs to be viewed on a good monitor and video card, so upload it here. If the problem is the videocard then we will all see the problem in the image. If we see a good image unaffected, then the problem will be his monitor, and that's how its done, that or find a different monitor or video card to exchange out, which viewing a simple screen shot seems to be an easy solution to me.
  4. oh by the wayWhat Operating System version do you have?
  5. Is it happening with all software installations or are you exaggerating?Does it do this only when installing from a cd drive?Do you have more than one cd drive you can try?Try an installation file that is stored on the harddrive. Does the problem still exist? Are you having any problems when CPU is busy, like when playing games or encoding? If so do you have a software to monitor your cpu temperature?Make sure you have a complete windows update. Make sure your virus definitions for your anti-virus scanner is up to date. Do a virus scan.If all else is good take your RAM and insert in different dimm slots. If you have more than one stick try one at a time in different slots. If none of that works post back and lets see what else we can rule out.

Take a screenshot. Open the screenshot. If the problem shows up in the screenshot then its video card related. If the image looks normal then its your monitor.
  7. I doubt you could do much better with those specs. Try to lower the resolution, and set sound quality to lowest setting. Also turn off all etrxa detail settings. This could help. Here is a link from another thread. http://www.thearmory.cc/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=5056
  8. What games are you playing?
  9. I agree, possible virus. I hate to down AVG but I had a personal problem with that anti-virus software one time as it let a virus slip buy it even when virus definitions where up to date with auto protection on. I suspected a virus due to unusual activity and AVG couldn't find anything. I was able to get a copy of norton installed and it found the viruses and destroyed them. Make sure your virus definitions are up to date and do a scan.
  10. It may be Soyo and it may not. I've heard a lot of mixed results with this board, but I got a good one. No on-board LAN problems, no restarting problems. If you want to keep using it, just use the ethernet card and put up with it as long as you can or will. Or you could try adding a PCI ethernet card and not use onboard. You can get a cheap one online that will work fine. You can always check the Soyo section of www.amdmb.com forums for more info on this MB.
  11. This is an article I found in a magazine. In the United States, we pay to play our PC games. In Korea, some of the country's largest corporations pay the best gamers to play...full time. Telco KTF South Korea sponsors a professional gaming team of 10 ace players, some of whom make more than $100,000 per year. The top "pro" gamers in Korea get up to $200,000 per year and become national celebrities. At this year's World Cybergames in Seoul, similiar "pro" teams from Germany and China actually bested the Koreans in the medal count. There are more than one thousand "pro" gamers in Korea who are scouted in the country's ubiquitous gaming parlors and signed by sponsoring corporations. But all this isn't as fun as it may sound; these high-profile players suffer tremendous pressure to beat all comers, pro and amateur, lest they lose their ranking. They practice more than 12 hours a day, live together in cramped barracks, and compete on super-sized screens in large public settings with color commentary. Talk about taking the fun out of gaming. We wonder if these guys get carpal tunnel insurance.
  12. You do have a point there SC. I still prefer the DC helos and all other gameplay from BVF but thats just my opinion. To me its slightly like going from DC to 1942. 1942 does not have all the advance weapons that DC has which makes 1942 very boring to me. I do think BFV is really cool though and I recommend buying it. Its typical though that it doesn't run good on lower end systems, some that even ran DC decently. I know that when Godshand tried on his computer he explicitly hated the game. I think if I remember right he is running a 2.6 P4, 1gb ram, but his problem I think is his FX5200 256mb video card (I've heard those cards aren't too good). He came over to my house to play BVF on my computer and he loved it, but he also like how much better DC ran as well. He now has a new respect for the game.
  13. First of all DC owns BFV.I do like BFV, it is a different enviroment. The feel of it is totally different. Some love the feel of the game, but I prefer the feel of DC much more. I do not like the way helicopters fly. Sure they are easier for newbies to flying because its easier to land and other reasons, but the helicopters in BFV are less sensitive to the controls which I believe is why newbies are able to fly because the heli doesn't get out of control with one wrong slight movement from the joystick. In my opinion an experience DC heli pilot can manuver a heli to extreme measures due to how much more sensitive the heli is to the joystick. I don't see this as the case in BFV. For example I notice when you point the nose hard toward the ground it is not very responsive when pulling back up even in a slight dive. I seem to crash alot when going into a dive when in dc no problem. What I'm saying is that BVF helos will not turn on a dime like the DC ones could.
  14. Before I posted I went onto the vietnam server and asked if ventrilo was operating ok. Gator and Donut reply that it seemed to be operating good.

  17. I just tried someone elses ventrilo server and it works fine.
  18. When I try to connect I get a message box that says: This Profession server has not been authenticated yet. Please try again in a few minutes.Anyone have a suggestion to my problem. It worked fine earlier today. I also tried the ventrilo link on this website.
  19. I don't know about the above, but you can get an emulator for various console games, and download roms which are the games and play on your computer. Also you can actually modify some of the roms almost like making a mod for battlefield, but in a different way. One time I played a modded Super Mario Bros. rom for Nintendo. It had mario sitting on a toilet as he went through the levels and instead of the name at the top showing mario, it show the name John. Who made it I don't know.
  20. I always remove a driver before installing another, so that wasn't my issue.
  21. I always remove a driver before installing another, so that wasn't my issue.
  22. I went from Catalyst 4.3 to the new Catalyst 4.4. I'm getting display problems with battlefield 1942 and vietnam. Actually problems happen outside of the game as well. I've seen it surfing the web. It happen intermitently. I went back to the 4.3 drivers and everything is fine so far. I should have never change because I don't have any problems using 4.3.
  23. You definetly have something wrong. I get a minimum of 100 fps with my radeon 9800 pro. Make sure you have the lastest display drivers installed. All check the bios for the agp aperature size. It should be set no more than half the size of your ram. How much wattage is your power supply rated at. That card comsumes lot of power. You should have at least minimum 300W PS. Make sure the fan is running. Oddly I've seen sometimes the fan power cable isn't seated fully sometimes on a few brand new cards. If nothing else GET MORE RAM. 1 gb if your MB supports it. It will make your game run at lot better anyway so you would have nothing to lose.
  24. Yes a good video card is important but going from 512 ram to 1 gb is really important for these types of games. I know when running battlefield my system uses more than 512mb ram including what is need to run win xp. The game loads into ram because it is able to access it much faster especially when you have a good amount of cache memory. If it runs out of memory it will have to access data from the hard drive which is much slower. When this happens you will get a short burst of lag which will happen in intervals and slight latency throughout. Yes more memory especially faster memory will make your computer work faster depending on the amount of resources need for a particular task (like games that eat resources). If accessing data from the hard drive a fast processor will only run at a small percentage due to a series of wait states because the processor can only access data as fast as the hard drive can supply it. Also hard drives have some latency when first accessing a piece of data. Oh and from what i hear far cry needs much powerful computer to run great. Two of my friends must run far cry at lowest video settings and are barely able to run it. They have P4's, a 2.2 and 2.6 both with 1 gb ram and a medium quality video card with 128mb. I tried it and so far i'm good to go at very high settings. I have amd 64 3200+, radeon 9800 pro, 1 gb ddr 400, 2 wd serial ata raptors running raid.
  25. I will be leaving Sunday for LA for about a week, come back for a week then headed to Miami, so you guys won't see me much this month. Hopefully the hotel room has high speed connection, then i can play on my laptop. I sure you guys won't notice me gone, except for the fact that you guys won't be owned as nearly much.
