  9. Here ya go, since I don't think they teach Canadian history at all in US schools. History and Origin of Canadian Thanksgiving In Canada Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October. Unlike the American tradition of remembering Pilgrims and settling in the New World, Canadians give thanks for a successful harvest. The harvest season falls earlier in Canada compared to the United States due to the simple fact that Canada is further north. The history of Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to an English explorer, Martin Frobisher, who had been trying to find a northern passage to the Orient. He did not succeed but he did establish a settlement in Northern America. In the year 1578, he held a formal ceremony, in what is now called Newfoundland, to give thanks for surviving the long journey. This is considered the first Canadian Thanksgiving. Other settlers arrived and continued these ceremonies. He was later knighted and had an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean in northern Canada named after him - Frobisher Bay. At the same time, French settlers, having crossed the ocean and arrived in Canada with explorer Samuel de Champlain, also held huge feasts of thanks. They even formed 'The Order of Good Cheer' and gladly shared their food with their Indian neighbours. After the Seven Year's War ended in 1763, the citizens of Halifax held a special day of Thanksgiving. During the American Revolution, Americans who remained loyal to England moved to Canada where they brought the customs and practices of the American Thanksgiving to Canada. There are many similarities between the two Thanksgivings such as the cornucopia and the pumpkin pie. Eventually in 1879, Parliament declared November 6th a day of Thanksgiving and a national holiday. Over the years many dates were used for Thanksgiving, the most popular was the 3rd Monday in October. After World War I, both Armistice Day and Thanksgiving were celebrated on the Monday of the week in which November 11th occurred. Ten years later, in 1931, the two days became separate holidays and Armistice Day was renamed Remembrance Day. Finally, on January 31st, 1957, Parliament proclaimed... "A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed ... to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October
  10. Another thing attlefield 2142 introduces a new system, the Career Points. The global score is what everyone is used to from Battlefield 2, all the points you make by kills, team actions and capturing points. These have been altered a bit (see below). New is the career points. Career points are based on global score. So if you make 10 global score in a round, that counts towards your career points. On top of that come the awards. Each award (with the exception of medals) give you additional career points. As ribbons and badges can only be gotten once, the pins get a very important position here. You can get most pins multiple times in one round, which can increase your career points extremely. Now why are there two different scores? Your rank is depending on the career points, not on your global score. So if you make 10 points by normal playing as global score, and get an award worth 10 career points, you will have a total of 20 careeer points from that round. This way your rank will increase a lot faster (and get you more unlocks) if you get the awards.
  11. Here is something that I didn't know that is good for those of us that like to collect awards/ribbons/badges. The scoring within every round will still be the most common way to earn points in order to go up in rank. The award system is the other. Badges, ribbons and pins now all have experience points connected to them. The harder an award is to get, the higher the experience point. With this in mind a player that works on their awards can advance in rank slightly faster.
  12. You can't hover on water in the future sillies don't ya know anything?
  13. Happy Thanksgiving to you all too.
  14. I am willing to bet the preorder special gun will be a disappointment. That's just from past experience with the unlocks. I'm still going to go do that tomorrow though LOL.
  15. Fatty is right I played mostly on the ground for Titan just to protect missiles and it was O.K. but missed the action upstairs. I can handle that for a round no problem.
  16. I will fix it later. I have to go out now for Thanksgiving Dinner.
  17. Last night me and Fatty were playing and after less than two minutes I had 24 team points and Fatty had, I think, 15. We only capped 1 or two points and killed maybe one player. Is this because I was leader that I got all these points? If so, too bad it doesn't add to the total score.
  18. Ya, drop Sidi and for the first week or so watch other BUSY servers and see what's what. Titan mode doesn't run well for me so I have no input on that because I probably will sit it out anyway. Actually, my input will be please don't do 3 Titans in a row LOL.
  19. Nice looking snake. Good job.
  20. You're hurting an old man's eyes.
  21. Hey that's pretty cool Scoutnex.
  22. Considering I get "Lost COnnection to EA Main Server" a LOT I don't think I can vote very high. They should have been ready for the server load, no excuses. At 30 feet I can unload a whole clip/magazine and just barely kill one guy. What happens when there are two? You should be able to kill at least 2 guys with on clip. Titan mode I can't play because of the terrible lag but that is my own problem because of my hardware being outdated. Of course, it runs fine on regular mode but then most seem to love the Titan so that leaves me out. Bleh, a 4 for them.
  23. I was just gonna castrate this guy and boom connection problem.
  24. I find this cumbersome thing very slow, makes me motion sick and the guns can't kill an infantry from 20 feet away before they overheat. There is such a big muzzle flash that you can't see where you are shooting and apparently you have to be very accurate to kill someone because you'd figure the splash damage from firing to overheat should kill someone.
