I liked BF2 and 2142 a ton, Quake Wars is not on the same level. If it had come out a year and a half earlier, before 2142, maybe it would have a larger following here. But with COD4 out I think the server is getting about as much support right now as it ever will.

Looking at Dice's webpage they've made nothing but battlefield games since 2004. If they had the resources to branch out while also developing a Battlefield game you'd think they would have done so already. Doesn't seem like a company their size has the resources to do two major projects at once.

I think we need a TF2 server, but there are only two or three of us who ever play that so it would probably sit empty like the others do now.

Just a guess, but after you join a server hit shift+tilde and it will show you all the info concerning you joining the server, your GUID will probably be somewhere in there.

I like search and destroy, headquarters is aggravating when you're the only one who caps points, and with domination its the same deal. Everyone wants to camp and play every mode like its team deathmatch. With search and destroy you have none of these problems and the gameplay is far more strategic because you spawn as a team and have a single objective. If you play on a 16 man server, or even smaller, there is hardly any wait if you get killed early in the round. Not to mention the fact that I've found the competition in S&D clan servers is decidedly tougher because the mode does not allow for cheap spawn kills, and forces you to use your head in planning your route and knowing where the enemy is going to be. Players who don't have the skills to survive long into a match get frustrated watching the round finish after they die ten seconds in and leave the server, this thins the herd pretty fast. I look at it this way, I can play on our server and get frustrated because while I'm capping the objective the rest of my team is either camping in a corner helping no one but themselves, or blindly ignoring the objective and running around like a fool playing team deathmatch, or I could just play search and destroy on a small server and have a good time against skilled players. Pretty clear choice to me. I've tried playing on our server now that it is actually populated every once and a while and the drop in my enjoyment of the game is amazing in our server versus a pure hardcore S&D setup. I just get annoyed and leave because I don't want to be the ass yelling "WHAT ARE YOU NOOBS DOING HELP ME CAP THE DAMN POINT." I'm not advocating making our server S&D, because I know the vast majority of us absolutely hate waiting even ten seconds to spawn :thumbsup: , and I'm sure if we did switch it no one would play anyway. I just think the way we have everything configured now is boring, If everyone plays like its team deathmatch we should just make it team deathmatch and be done with it.

If they ever get around to fixing this it'll definitely help. Until then there is really nothing we can do, our servers just don't show up. This is the reason we never get any public players to keep the server full; we've known about it the issue since the game came out.

I'm doing a fresh install of COD4 and was wondering if I could just install 1.3 alone, or would I need to install 1.1 and 1.2 first? Anyone done a re-install yet and know?

Activision already owns 12 game studios, including Infinity Ward, this deal will just add five or six more. A big deal, but without Blizzard thrown in there it wouldn't be quite as massive. And the combined revenue of Blizzard and Acitivion will still not match EAs and as far as sheer number of studios is concerned EA is the winner with something like 24. EA will remain on top for a while.
