Crysis HD is just a resolution, 1280x720 for 720p and 1920?1080 for 1080p. A resolution computer user have had access to for a long time, you just need a monitor and video card that can support that resolution. So a game that runs at that is really nothing special. HD gaming is new to home console owners because only recently have TVs come out that support HD resolutions. Where the tricky part comes in is HD Video which is fairly new. You'll need a card and monitor that'll support HDCP to play back high def video on a computer. But since you asked about DVD drives I don't think HD video is really a concern. One gripe, that head bobbing when you walk or run. Annoying. I hope they give you an option to turn that off. When you walk in real life your head doesn't bob so damn much and when you run your brain can compensate for the motion and you don't feel like you're on a rollercoaster going up and down and up and down. Oh, and there was this neat part after you plant the C4 where the guy next to the cannon, or whatever it was, is lying on the ground after you shot him and he takes out a pistol and shoots you in the back. I died three times before I figured out what was going on.

Singleplayer only, don't know why they'd do that.

My 8800gts 320mb runs it maxed out at 1280*1024 so if you play at that resolution and are looking for a good graphics card this one works swell. PS I also have a 2.4ghz dual core and 2gb of ram.

Portal is awesome. A bit short but still awesome. I beat it in a few hours this morning but haven't done any of the extra challenges. Given the length I can't say I would've been thrilled if I paid forty dollars for this game alone but as a bundle with episode 2 and TF2 its a nice bonus. I can't wait to see what the mod community comes up with for this game, given the simple layout of the main chambers it should be pretty easy to come up with and implement new puzzles. It also looks like they've made it simple to load new ones, there is an option when you load a bonus map that allows you to upload new maps. if3Qv2tHyfA And the song during the ending credits.... golden.

This used to happen to me all the time. I bet its your sound card. Turn off x-fi and EAX and see if that helps. If the looping sound crash goes away then you found the source of the problem. I had an audigy 2ZS and could not play reliably with EAX on. I bought an X-FI extrememusic and everything works great now, but when I installed it I didn't use the drivers on the cd, I downloaded the latest from soundblaster. Its strange because I used to be able to play 2142 with EAX on my audigy then one day out of the blue I get these crashes. Then about four months later the soundcard just died and would not work. Maybe your card is on the way out.

Is multiplayer included? I don't think I'll even touch the single player. Can't wait. :klinked:
