mappacks not on server map cycle?
............your point?Previous version of FA could not handle long map cycles, and the system would crash and restart....playing the same few maps over and over again. We could experiment this time and run a bunch of them to see how the server would react I suppose. Also, most people have there favorites and would not like to wait for 3 days to play "ps_river" for example.

mappacks not on server map cycle?
Some of them are. We cannot run all the maps on the map cycle, because it would take 5 days to go through all of them. We change the cycle from time to time. A map cycle usually consists of about 10-15 different maps

Psycho stats is bein a total punk
There was something wrong with the stats, and they are fixed now (kinda). I manually downloaded the log files and ran the stats through the PS Perl script. As you can see, I am leaving the old stats up for a day or so so you can see the difference in the stats. The new link called "Armory Stats (Good)" are the good ones., and the other (original) are the bad stats. I installed the new stats to the game server, and if I did everything right, they should pick up again tomorrow morning. If they did not, I may need to twaek them again tomorrow. I will do the manual "Temp" stats thing again tomorrow if they fail. I don't mind doinig it for a few days, but it is a pain to do them manually.P.S. And Mith...you were correct about your AK47 kills...the numbers appear to be high as you believed they were. gator

Psycho stats is bein a total punk
I am going to reinstall the program tonight. I think there is a problem now myself. The big thing I noticed is that it said it took like 2 minutes to processes 780 log files, and that process alone normally takes about 20 minutes, so somehting is wrong. Anyway...reinstall and see what happens tomorrow.

PsychoStats
I will check into it Mith. I turned the format to PHP instead of HTML to see if that would help, but it remained the same. I will try the AK-47 tonight myself to see if it records my kills. There may be a problem with RC2.7 generating log file info. Also, you will now see a search block at the top of the stats to make it easier to find your name. That is a benifit of using PHP. It uses multiple pages (100 each page) showing the top 200 players. Tonight I will change it to top 500 players. This way more people will have a chance to see their stats.

PsychoStats
I am going to say this for the last time, and I will make it simple as I can for you to understand...Day 1: 150 killsDay 2: 100 killsDay 3: 100 killsDay 4: 100 killsDay 5: 100 killsDay 6: 100 killsDay 7: 100 killsDay 8: 100 killsDay 9: 100 killsDay 10: 100 killsDay 11: 100 killsDay 12: 100 killsDay 13: 100 killsDay 14: 100 killsTotal kills for past 14 days = 1,450Now, a new day comes along and the stats program retrieves the past 14 days of logs as it always does, but this time you no longer have that great day of 150 kills (as noted onn Day 1) because it is older than 14 days (now 15 days old), and is no longer counted in the total kills. So, the log files would look like this (for example), and you total score would be 50 lessDay 1: 100 killsDay 2: 100 killsDay 3: 100 killsDay 4: 100 killsDay 5: 100 killsDay 6: 100 killsDay 7: 100 killsDay 8: 100 killsDay 9: 100 killsDay 10: 100 killsDay 11: 100 killsDay 12: 100 killsDay 13: 100 killsDay 14: 100 killsTotal kills for past 14 days = 1,400

Proposed Armory Server Rules "Map Exploit" Section
No, you are wrong Mr. Peanut. The Armory's policy has been, and always will be, that "if it came with the game you can use it" That refers to weapons and equipment. We strive to make the game as fair as possible for all players. Most of our server rules are already in-place with the exception of the climbing rule, which is still up for debate. We can't make all players happy all the time, but we will try to make as many happy as we can.
-
Proposed Armory Server Rules "Map Exploit" Section
You must define the exploit, and it must be well understood and consistent. I'm afraid it is not that easy. It would be to subjective and interpreted differently by every player and Admin, and would seriously lack in true objectivity. 8)

Proposed Armory Server Rules "Map Exploit" Section
You did not read what it said Mr. Mac...I will highlight it again for those who may be "Forum challenged" - Enter spawn areas to kill newly re-spawned players; thus preventing them from having a fighting chance to get oriented, take cover, or maneuver into battle ok, maybe it should read... - Enter spawn areas to kill newly re-spawned players; thus preventing them from having a fighting chance to get oriented, take cover, or maneuver into battle. Players may, however, enter the opponent's spawn area with the intent to capture the point, or to end a game when the opponent no longer has reinforcements

Proposed Armory Server Rules "Map Exploit" Section
- Climb onto hills, cliffs, buildings, or any high-elevated areas where the opponent does not have a reasonable opportunity to counterattack. EXAMPLE: On the map "ps_sandblast", players climb on top of the buildings at the spawn area where opponents have a difficult time seeing the player. There is only a small portion of the players body mass that is visable to the opponent (about 3-5 %). This makes it almost impossible to effectively shoot at.

Proposed Armory Server Rules "Map Exploit" Section
Well, the problem here lies in the fact that there are hundreds of maps, and having each map charted by location would not be practical. We need a generalized statement that would be all-inclusive to cover any situation that may arise. If you have a better statement that would better explain the rule, and would meet the criteria, please define for us. I think we all know the maps well enough that we can agree on most of the hard to shoot at areas, so this should not be a major problem. If a player feels the area should not be "off-limits", he can send in a request to info@fa-thearmory and get a ruling on that area.

Proposed Armory Server Rules "Map Exploit" Section
Here are a few draft rules I have come up with. Please give your input THE ARMORY SERVER RULES (Draft) Section 1: Map Exploiting Players will not: - Climb onto hills, cliffs, buildings, or any high-elevated areas where the opponent does not have a reasonable opportunity to counterattack. - Enter spawn areas to kill newly re-spawned players; thus preventing them from having a fighting chance to get oriented, take cover, or maneuver into battle - Place artillery markers in or near spawn areas where the explosion kills newly re-spawned players; thus preventing them from having a fighting chance to get oriented, take cover, or maneuver into battle - Prone-over and stab a teammate to gain altitude (levitating) that would cause an unreasonably advantageous midair vantage point

Map Packs?
We always use maps from Map PAck #1, but there may be a time we change to another map for a change of pace and fun. If you have the disk space, it is always a good idea to have all of the maps.
