Windows ME is Fine. I have 10 computers here and LOVE it.The only problem I have with it is when you get a disc that a cdrom has a problem reading. The system hangs and you must cntrl alt del to stop it.

Do not use the new 3.8 catalytst. There is a problem with them.Jarex have youdone what has been posted above in our Guides Mac's and Gator's.If not I suggest you follow them.

You can copy that file from the win XP disc over to the HD and repair it.Can you use your system restore? If not.......Boot to an "a:/" prompt and type in scanreg /restore and hit enter.You should always keep a backup image or direct transfer on anohter HD/computer. FYI

When I post a pic of my Abit BE6-2 it is cooled by a mini fridge chilling the water to 20 deg f. OK here we go.Radioactive has a Iwill KK266 Plus sdram mobo at 150fsb 256 mb of pc150 6,2,2,2. The XP1800 is at 1729mhz. He has a GF4ti4200 280 core/550 mem. The whole system is water cooled by Macgyver. Homemade waterblock, homemade radiator/fan unit, 5 gallon soda tank for a resevoir(b/c i got it for free). 400 watt Antec p/s. There are a 48xcdrom and 24x16x48xcdrw installed as well. SBLIVE. The whole system is black with Creative 2.1 speakers. Logitech Wingman Steering Wheel. Thrustmaster Topgun Afterburner Joystick/throttle. 17inch mon.The system next to his is a Epox 8KTA3 + Pro mobo running at 150fsb with a XP1700 at 1729mhz. 256 mb of pc 150 at 6,3,3,2. GF3ti200 at 230 core/530 mem. Onboard sound. 17inch mon.The next one is a KK266 Plus with a XP 1900 at 150fsb = 1800mhz. 256mb of Crucial at 6,2,2,3. GF3 TI200 at 230 core/530mem. A lock up can be software or hardware or a combination of both.Win200pro is a good system but not for gaming without the best drivers.Update your videocard driver and motherboard/chipset driver.Upgrade to directX9.0b as well.See what happens.Mac

Since Gator got most of what I found out with my experience installing Steam/FA on 10 different computers. I will post a last ditch effort or a guarranteed way for you to get Steam and FA running.1: First off. Get your latest chipset drivers, DirectX 9.0b, Videocard drivers.2: Have your HL 1.1.1.0 handy. Download 2.8 full version. Save your FA Sprite folder, config.cfg, menus folder. These can be used in 2.8. Just copy and paste when ready. Save the new ones for a back up of course.3: Goto your add remove programs and Uninstall Steam and Hl and anyother HL mod.4: Search your Harddrive(Goto search your computer) or look in your drives for Steam , HL, FA, Opposing force etc etc folders. Manually delete all of these folders.5: Goto your Run box in your start button. Type in regedit.6: Goto hkey_current_user and click the little plus, click the plus software, valve, delete it.7: Do the same for Steam, Sierra or any other HL mod you find there.8: Goto hkey_local_machine and do the same as above.9: Restart10: Scandisc your entire computer and defrag it as well. This is a must!!!!!!!11: Restart when done.12: Install HL. PLAY IT WHEN DONE AND PUT THE CD KEY IN!!!!!!! This is a must!!!!!!! Not the whole game silly!!!???13: Update HL to 1.1.1.014: Download the FULL version of FA 2.8. Yes the full version.You can follow Gators from this point.15: Restart your computer16. Install FA.17: Restart18: Install Steam19: Restart20: If Steam does not find the FA folder then reinstal FA to this folder C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\your@email_address.com\half-life folder. 2.8 should automatically find this path for you.The drive letter "C" is dependant on where you installed HL and Steam.
