Mainly because the Betamax VCR and the 3dFX weren't industry wide standards. Err, you said that you'd need to update motherboards. Because the technology hasn't been publically released yet; you're complaining that the manufacturers havn't released it? I think that's just the major idea. But, once again, what you're expecting is them to take an old computer, using old technology, and somehow forge new technology into it making it work perfectly. It's not going to work, it shouldn't work; if it did work it wouldn't be called "new" technology, it'd be "updated" technology. And if you're not that naive, perhaps you should stop acting like it every once in awhile

Just because they can handle the speed, doesn't mean they could handle the different technology used by said cards. If they're using über1337 new technology, then of course your mobo cannot support it (which i believe they are) - Besides, theres many different POVs than just that, theres also heat, size, and a few other things that people who know far more about the making of the new stuff could tell you about. Either way, i don't think they're out to "just make more money" by making us upgrade - It'd have to be an industry-wide consperisy, considering the graphics cards, mobo makers, ram people, cooling folk, and the hard-drive folk are all in different fields and aren't competing with one-another.

Yeah, but when you buy an entire computer filled with the best-of-the-best equitment, you don't need anything for 3-5 years; seeing as then the stuff you bought would just NOW start becomming the "recommended' or "minimum requriements" stuff. I mean, a 1.4 came out; i dunno, say 4 years ago? 3 years ago? And most games still don't have a "minimum" or "recommended" requirement of a 1.4; they're still at 1 gigz or 900MHZ. I'm at 3.4 gigz, How long do you think i can wait on this computer? I'm willing to bet awhile.

In my eyes mac, you're complaining for no reason. You'll still be able to use the current systems for another 8+ years before you **really** need to upgrade; probably 6 before you need to upgrade where everything looks horrible. Besides, you just need a 'hard' update once, and then everything is fine. Most gamers realize that they need to upgrade their computer every 3-5 years with an entire new set, or things just don't work right.

Considering most people don't buy enough of any of these items; they probably already needed it. Besides, it's best to upgrade in steps instead of "all at once" - surely you of alll people would know that. Besides, technology will always do something like this...When you upgrade your home entertainment theater, most of the time you need a new TV, new reciever, new speakers, wires, and a new table. When you're trying to get your car to be among the best, you need to upgrade just about everything in the engine. When you upgrade most things in real life, you need many updates of things surrounding the item - not just the item itself. Besides, most of the time you don't ***need*** the newest + best of the best for vid card, a 9800 pro will last for a long enough time while you save for the mobo/proc/case/vid card/ram/Ethernet card/PS/HD's. Hell, the 9500 Pro's are still decent cards now-a-days getting over 60FPS is most games, and they're really old in technology years.

He's saying he knows what hacks are, and aren't, cd proof at the moment. He's on the Cheating Death team to help get FA as cheat free as possible. If he wasn't there, FA would get no attention from CD, and it wouldn't matter if hacks worked with FA or not. they wouldn't give a damn. Sgoss is the top 3, if not the very best, in firearms at the moment. You can ask any league admin to review his demos, and we'll review it in order to determine whether or not Goss hacks or not. I can pretty much guarnetee that he doesn't, hasn't, and never will hack in pubs. theres no point to it.

I'm sorry, but if you're going to hold some people to the agreement, you should hold all members to the agreement; including TA members. I can remember a certain post about asking where to illegally download HL2, and then later a post claiming said person downloaded it, and no TA admin (publically) told them not to do it again, or deleted it, or anything else. Also, alot of your ToS cannot be held legally - You're assuming the person whose posting said things in your site has the abiliity to lease those rights to you. You guys are also making it sound like if you donate, you can say whatever the hell you want to say, because you're helping put the forums up.

Your analogy sucks for shit. He's giving them the server, once a week, for free. DW pays quite alot of cash a month to operate the server, and they can use it once a week. for free. That isn't like giving the starving in africa a expensive bound book on how to grow crops, that's like giving them bread and meat, and telling them they need to get their act together ASAP. And to be honest, At this point in FA"s life if another server dies, it's not that big of a change to anything. Theres plenty of FA servers that go on, unused by the majority of the community. It's a shame; and if you really, truely needed a server to use for awhile...many of those server owners wouldn't give a damn if you had limited access to the server. However, going to another clans site, asking them to pay for you and your server, is really....Really bad. If you can't afford the server month-to-month, perhaps you shouldn't have gotten it in the first place. IMO you should make sure you've got enough money for 6 months for the server before you even consider renting one out.

I waste my time, bandwidth, and HD space with your forums; how much worse could this game /really/ be?

I talked to someone who knows alot more about soldner than i do, and he said that their netcode was royally f***ed up and alot of people couldn't connect to servers; that server + client authenication were /really/ messed up and often weren't on the same level. *shrug*

To completely destroy? Probably not. But one could also state, that if i parent teaches a child to have a strong sense of morality they wouldn't need to block out all the bad language - the children will have no problem ignoring it for what it is, and hence the language filter is still un-needed. But it is proven for children to be more agreesive with this in pre-teen/early-teen years, and it tends to relax them in middle-teen/late-teen years. However, it does effect it. Theres a number of reasons why the [TA] server is very popular. One comes because of the ammount of active playing members - You can just about always find a TA member playing at the FA server at any time of day. And usually theres 2 or 3 of them. When you get 3 players on a server with very popular community the server will flurish. Another reason you guys have a popular server is because it's fairly well admin'd. You guys don't take crap from anyone, whether it be clan mate or hated enemy, everyone has an equal chance at everything. Another reason is because of your friendly clan mates - Friendly clan mates make friendlier servers. Another reason why it's possible is because you guys put up with alot of crap that most other servers won't, like helm camming or general exploiting. I know in the helmet bug days, many players would play on your server because they could easily exploit the helmet hitboxes and live longer - I know serveral people that would do this regularly. I know some people that /still/ play on your server becasue they can exploit all they want and you guys won't ban, kick, or get pissy at them in general. Another reason it's a popular server is because it's CD-required. [TA] has gotten the first, full time CD required server up in ANY mod for HL that i'm aware of. Good job guys, especially since you did it with a dying mod, where you're mostly hated throughout the clan community (or you guys used to be) I don't think that your anti-swearing filter is a top-contender reason on why your server is full for most people. Most people play there simply because theres less cheating, proper adminning, and a over-all friendly attitude. I still don't believe that no curse-words means a flame-free server. I can burn you guys ALOT worse without using curse-words than i can with them. And for any of you poeple reading with small children playing: hud_saytext 0. You can't see any chat, not even in the console. ITs' like you're invisible to all text. I believe voice_enable 0 disables the microphones as well, i'm unsure about it.

And it's been scientifically proven to raise the violence level in children under the age of 15 or so. After 15, it's been proven to help people. This isn't an attempt to flame you guys, not at all - most of you guys are very nice and I enjoy posting here and debating with you.
