  1. Finally got around to fetching this... Wow, the vehicles really do look very good. I'm not so sure about the idea to use smoke for commands though. I do however, like the idea of mobile spawn points for leaders... figrefights over flags will undoubtedly be far more intense. I really hate it when I travel to a hot spot only to get blown away before doing anything, now there is likely to be intense fighting until you've completely removed every enemy from the area. It will make urban combat pretty neat. Area effect powers seem a little too RTSey, it will be kind of weird to see people regenerating health etc... simply because they are near a medic in a hmvee. Lock on Warnings are cool Atmoshperic chatter is also cool... e.g. you order pop smoke, and you hear the order, and then get verbal acknowledgement that smoke is being popped. Very cool.
  2. Heh, if BFV is any indication, anything less then a 9600 Pro or Geforce 5700 won't cut it if you plan on running at 1024 x 768 even if using minimal settings. As well, because of the large number of textures, you probably want a minimum of a 128MB card. It won't increase your FPS, but it will stop you from getting short pauses when your texture cache is full and you see a new event that requires a new texture load. I saw this alot in BFV with my retail 64MB 8500 (which is far superior to a 9200 because the 8500 pipes are 4x2 versus 4x1 on the 9200) and on a Ti 4200 with 64MBs, but a GeForce 5700 with 128MBs made this problem go away.

I'll wait until the shipping date is set in stone before preordering.
  5. Haha Gator, you wish, we haven't even had to resort to mind control yet to keep you here Which reminds me, when I am 100 I will still owning at cutting edge games
  6. There is ALOT of atmoshpehere in this game.... it goes a long way towards suspension of disbelief. I especially like image #35 at the Firing Squad gallery.
  7. There is alot of content being released lately to talk about. eg: The new movie generated a discussion and things like FiringSquad's new 50 image hi res gallery of BF2 screens are popping up daily.
  8. Since we are on the topic of new toys... my new toy just arrived today as well. Zen Touch 20GB MP3 player. Unfortunately, I have to get it home and charge it for 2.5 hours before I can use it I also picked up Koss KSC75 headphones for it, probably the best "budget" headphones you can get. http://www.creative.com/iss/images/inline/products/zentouch/touchpadcontrol.jpg
  9. Yeah, it was kind of all over the place.... it could have been more creepy if it had some persistence.
  10. How does that one connect to the internet G?
  11. I posted some stuff... I am always right on gameplay issues. Obey!
  12. Heh, yeah, that video is obviously heavily scripted. It better not have accuracy like depicted in that video... come on, that guy was what in the open 20 feet away from a machine gun and couldn't get hit? The explosions still kinda suck.... especially on planes. The detail on the vehicles and soldiers look incredible. edit: One more thing... after looking closer, the missiles shot from the F18 into the perpendicular Mi 8 looked really weird. They were all shakey, like the game engine was only able to do course corrections every second or so. Wonder if certain game mechanics aren't scripted and are using the real engine in that movie?
  13. Sorta like doom3? Where the default auto detect setting for my A64 3000 with 6800 is 800x600, medium?

No the P90 is the best sub-machine gun Admittedly it is a bit harder to control the spread of the P90 in comparrison to the MP5 (you can do it with practice though, the P90 makes a T pattern). However, the 50 round clip comes in real handy. Typically in a close combat dodge fest, the P90 will be the winner because the enemy has to reload before you. It's also nice having 50 rounds when you are behind 5-6 people who are oblivious to your presence. Additionally, the rapid fire seems to knock enemy aim off the best out of all the guns. Typically if I engage 2 people, I can spray one guy a bit and then spray the next guy and the 1st guy cant hit me until I've killed them both. http://www.sewg.net/~armory/sourcestats/weapon.php?id=12
  15. I still have "Afterburner Arcade Motion Console" on my to buy list.
  16. Whoo hoo, maybe fired bullets will stop going AWOL on the CS:S server after this
  17. Haha Kingpin, that e-mail is for legitimate clan purposes, would it be any fun to have to sort through hack suspicion/problem player mails in it? Especially if it gets used and you are getting a dozen complaints per hour? For everyone's sanity, a dedicated problem player message bin is a more ideal solution, so it can be dealt with as time and desire to do this kind of work permits. Additionally, this would also be a great place for non TAC members to drop off text images of smacktards when there are no TAC members on the server. (it happens on late weekends). Even now it seems non Admin TAC member are getting overwhelmed at warning people to watch language, stop typing around the filter etc... because that is all they would end up doing for their gaming session. Warn them, screen shot repeated offences, send PM... person gets banned when time permits. Process... it's all about implementing process for repetitive tasks.
  18. I think people have sort of misunderstood the intent of my request. I am not an admin, so when I am more intereted in playing, I am not interested in babysitting someone who is hacking on and off to be a gimp for 30 minutes only to be able to do nothing about it anyways. eg: Charmander was turning his aimbot/wallahack on and off making incredibly outrageous shots one round, and then getting knifed in the back or glocked pwned the next round to use as "proof" he wasn't hacking. I simply want a place to send a PM to so admins or SC can look into it while I am busy playing. This is more efficient then sending a PM to every SC and Admin
  19. There are many lame people coming on our server lately, and during the afternoon, admins are hard to get ahold of sometimes, We need a "Hacker/Lamer" reporting accout we can leave PMs with, which should be intermittently checked by admins. We leave a steamID and description of the problem, and they can look into it when around. Eg: Today we had an oh so obvious hacker shooting through objects and using an aimbot (strafing and killing people with AWP on the move while having crosshairs off by several inches 3-4 times in a row in reload succession) 2300 "(-o-) ChArMaNdEr" STEAM_0:0:3725624 42:14 164 0 active Then as soon as one of the non-Tac members accuses him of cheating, he starts the typical attemp to hide his obvious hacking.... it is so frustrating trying to accumulate evidence of his hacking when you are more interested in playing. I'd rather just grab his ID, and send a brief PM to some anti-hacker account for admins. "Possible Aimbot/Wallhack" player, please check in out when you get a chance.

I have never had a ticket :o Though once I got hella pwnt by a cop while on vacation on the highway. One of those guys with the speedgun appeared out of nowhere, and I was doing 160KMH in a 100 zone. I thought for sure I was nailed, so I slowed down and got perpared to pull into the "service" area *4 cops cars up ahead by the side of the road able to write up 4 people at a time * Heh, well, they didn't motion me over, but as I passed the cop stepped out and ordered the guy being me onto the side of the road. So either they screwed up and got the wrong guy, or the guy behind me was speeding worse and they decided to take the fastest mover out of the speeders.
  21. On my crappy compaq mouse at work avg: 0.2104 I'll do another one at home on my Intellimouse... I think having a crappy mouse is throwing off the timings for average people. I mean come on, if you have some crappy $10 mouse, it's not going to return the signal when you click as fast on a good, sensitive mouse like a Logictech MX510.
  22. But tanks can do that in real life Infact, it's supposed to be pretty easy to do now with a sabot round and modern fire control, assuming you can actually see the helicopter. Unfortunately in the really real world the helicopter usually kills you from the treeline I wish things worked like this in game.... with tanks and helos being completely fragile to each other so it boils down to who sees who. If the helos could fly low and ambush tanks without being sniped, it would be pretty damn cool.... but as it is now, a tank has more then enough time to blow you out of the sky even if you take it completly by surprise
  23. I might, but I have to get a new CD3 1st. My 2 year old got his hands on it and in 2 seconds finished it off.
  24. LOL, it's more like some EOD guy screwing around. "Hey guys, let's freak the marines out! We'll tell them this is standard sniper issue!" Edit: Or it's just what we need in CS:S! The CT picks off the rushers with his auto-snipe, an then has extra armor to defuse the bomb faster then a T can kill him
