  1. Well, there are rag doll physics, the problem is AI monsters tend to disintegrate unless they take just enough dammage to fall down dead (eg: 1 pistol shot to the head) Stuff that egts thrown around by explosions etc... rag dolls nicelyI dunno, the game gives me a headache, I tend to strain my eyes alot to see what monster is ambushing me form a dark corner next.Heh, the other thing is that the Dawn of War open beta started the same day I got Doom3, and well, I love RTSes, so I've been playing alot of it as well and think it's more fun.

  3. I picked it up today...Xp 2000, Radeon 8500, 512 MBs. I need to run it at 640*480 low detail, and it still looks incredible. The detail is amazing, there is a point at the begining where you need to leave one building to enter another, and you take a quick run outside on mars. They could have made it scary, but pretty much every single monster ambushes you from a dark corner somewhere, and such overuse really does wreck the atmosphere. There are some pretty creepy parts though
  4. Everything is closed in Ontario today, civic holiday, I can't buy mine until tomorrow :DUhh, and Tool is hardly the best choice for doing the music. Would have been better if Trent Reznor finished the job.
  5. Err, how so? The X800 is $100 more then the GT, and loses by 25-33% in all the Doom3 benchmarks. That is brutal incompetence, it was a major mistake on ATI's part to make it have 12 pipes instead of 16. No, I'm not an Nvidia fanboy, my current card is ATI, but man, they royally messed up this generation of cards.
  6. Yeah, but man, those cards suck major for Doom3 :DEven a 9800 pro isn't too hot for new games. However, The Nvidia 6800 GT can be had for $400 CDN and beats the tar out of the new $500 CDN X800 in Doom3 :DHeh, I like the warning John Carmack from Id gives Video Card overclockers..... "reset your clock rates to factory default, alot of graphical hardware features Doom3 uses will not have ever been used on your video card before"
  7. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=817&e=12&u=/ap/skunk_gel That has got to be one of the coolest ideas I've heard of yet to prevent abandoned buildings from being used for drugs/prostitution.
  8. The good-Helos are nerfed and vulnerable-The chaingun in the Huey has been severly reduced in power-Mutt heat seeker, when used correctly it is impossible to get anywhere near as NVA. Yesterday there were 3 manned mutts on game warden in the same area, it is complete overkill if you charge into their line of fire.-Laws/RPGs do massive dammage to helos if you can hit the helo in the side/rear fuselage or engine-The US scout helo can place artillery markers.... very cool when you get some people with a clue. There are 3 MAs for the US on the new map, and if the helo places a marker on a flag, 3 MAs can kill anything that moves there for your forces to take it easily. The bad-Cockpit hits on helos still don't always register dammage. Quite silly, since this also means a law hit to the front of the helo (which is often where it will be hit) often doesn't register dammage -M60 still cant hit jack... it's more luck then skill-The new NVA scout chopper has a guided missile, this is silly, because it is fast and agile so it's hard to hit, allowing it to kill enemy helos with ease. The ugly-Sa7 hits can cause masssive massive lag sometimes-Napalm sound loop
  9. Heh, because they are bored with getting mass points.... I guarantee if they decided to play smart, they'd all be like 30-0Once last night I decided to creep around and try not to die rather then charge and kill everything in site.I went 27-4 with the M60/M79 kit, simply by hiding in buildings and M79ing anything that moved. :)If I really want to be a cheap bastich I'll hide in the buildings on Flaming Dart near the North Flag, and TNT the stairs.... everytime someone comes to investigate they get exploded.... and it's impossible to die even once, and you rack up massive points converting the flag back and forth. But it's boring.
  10. Make sure to check your controls as well, if you deleted controls, they are automatically put back in at their default states. (eg: I always remove secondary air controls, so imagine my surprise when "up" was reactivated as pitch down)
  11. Heh.... it was truly awesome to shoot down Shotty in his Mi8 with a law :DThe cobra also seems more unstable, no more taking it down the road like it's a sports car
  12. yee haw!Now the US has heat seeking MUTTs!!!!Laws do massive dammage to helos!!!! :DM60/RPD dammage increased vs helos!Huey Gunner does less dammage to other choppers! Yay!!!!!I think the days of extreme spawn camping smack downs are over!Edit: The Important Stuff-Jeeps take less damage in water. -Jeep top speed and torque increased. -Helicopter bullet damage decreased against light vehicles and air vehicles. -The ability to track air targets was lowered for vehicle mounted heatseekers. -MUTT tow rocket changed to a heat seeker. Reload time increased, ammo count decreased. -Cobra heatseeker rate of fire decreased. -Increased destabilization of Cobra when no driver, making it harder to switch to the 2nd position to fire heatseekers. -Slightly reduced Cobra hitpoints. -M60 damage vs. helicopters increased. -LAW and RPG damage vs. helicopters significantly increased. -Vehicle resupply radius of ammoboxes increased from 3 to 8 meters. -BM21SAM minimum firing pitch angle lowered. -BM21SAM Rate of fire doubled, but now contains 4x10 round magazines with a long reload. -Increased ammo count of M46 from 30 to 50 rounds. -Replaced static crosshair with animated one in all mounted MG's. -Lowered minimum pitch of all tank turrets as much as possible. -Kit speeds adjusted so Scouts are fastest, Heavy Assault slowest. -Falling damage when going down stairs reduced. -Flaming Dart air towers are less vulnerable to explosives and mortar attacks.Wow! Alot of changes! Look at the bm21, double ROF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG
  13. Apartment fires suck
  14. You mean 07/27 right?
  15. I'm excited because it's scarry/horror, which means my wife will like it, which means I can justify a hardware upgrade
  16. I hear ya gator, my plan was to stick with BFV and move to BF2 just like you were thinking, while trying things out on the side, like JO.I predict things will pick up again in BFV with the release of the 1.1 patch. A heat seeking MUTT will have a significant impact on gameplay. ;)I'm a strong believer that good controls and simple gameplay will always beat out clunky "for realisim" controls found in games like JO, so the battlefield series of games should have some staying power.
  17. I definetly think Falcon 4.0 is the best flight sim as well. You will not find a more realstic model of air to air radar and weapon systems in any other game. Additionally, there is a large 3rd party community around the game, and there is a huge unofficial enhancment patch that modernizes graphics, makes some things more realistic (based on info from real F-16 pilots) and fixes bugs.Hey, and as an added bonus, it is an older game and you can probably pick it up for 10 bucks if you can find it.
  18. Unfortunately, when I bought BF1942, it was for DC, so I never considered RTR. Come to think of it, I have yet to play a MP game of BF1942
  19. Well, if you look at the games Vivendi has been releasing lately, do you really have to wonder why this has happened?
  20. Heh, the only thing this will do is prevent P2P companies from being located in the USA. I mean seriously, do they really think they can stop people from downloading P2P software? :lol:BTW, I downloaded my 1st song ever off the internet today. I got it for free with my Big Mac Meal yesterday I dunno, being in the software industry tends to change your perception of this kind of thing, especially for larger stuff, like $1000 software packages. The people that get burned by piracy are the behind the scene "doers". Truck drivers transporting stuff, minimum wage people operating the CD fabricaters etc... trust me, the rich people take their share. So using the excuse "Oh no, superstar so-and-so can't get his million dollar house this month" is not valid, because what is really happening is "Oh no, average Joe Truck Loader doesn't go from 10 dollars to 12 dollars an hour this year", which is a hell of alot different then the perception most people have towards who piracy really hurts.
  21. OK seriously, this is hardcore, the guy only had 1 arm!
  22. http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/~andy/cars/cars.html That is the only way to describe this *warning, alot of big pics*
  23. Well, you have to remember that AGP sucks so bad, that game developers code their games to do everything in their power to prevent the vid cards from accessing the system memory.New games will do far better on PCI-E.Heh, and ATI is being silly, you will not be able to find an X600 mainstream card on AGP from them, only PCI-E.
  24. Clearly this is the result of being located in Thunder Bay.... such things do not occur in the elite city of Ottawa.
  25. Heya, welcome. Now come play BFV and make a nation state at www.nationstates.net. Once you've done that move your nation to "The Armed Nations of TAC" region.
