i had no probs with 2.7 ... arty worked fine ... 2.8 in won has arty crash probs ... yet 2.8 in steam, atleast in armory, arty seems fine. it sure comes in useful when having probs and need to shout "broken arrow"

your saying you put back g2 card sounds like you recently or not long ago put in more power hungry vcard with cooling fan ?my pc2 did almost similar thing ... light on mobo by ram on, all fans turning ... the power supply was no longer able to put out enough power for everything, but put out a little ... changing power supply solved prob.souns like your power supply diminished, partially fried from extra load of vcard with fan.atleast as already said, easiest to wiggle or reconnect all chips, plugs, cards incase of dirty oxidized connection ... then change power supply ...otherwise mobo i guess.

2nd pc bfv locked up, trying to get in same server as 1st pc.... so uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot ... both pcs bfvs got in same sever.as to whether the gf2-64mb will bo okay in higher action online servers remaoins to be seen.

THANKS ... changing bf key number to one on 2nd bought cds saved much hassle. got both bf's in online game of bf.road to rome key not found... attempts to get both pcs in rome online game got map noty found in pc2 so i uninstalled and reinstalled pc2 rome ... now bot pcs get in rome map online.bfv installed in both pcs got cd key in use window ... darn ... got 2nd bfv because i was very impressed with the maps, sounds and music. i found 1st key in reg and changed it to 2nd key. if not work no biggy, just uninstall, rebbot, reinstall.cy'all there one of these nights.Salute

Yes, i've read that amds, which cost less, have slightly cheaper materials, and don't always run at their "rated" top speed, for your sake, so they last. also read of people overclocking them 25 % and frying them.read that intels, have been successfully overcloaked up to around 33% more, safely.if it were me with amd, most i would try is changing bios from default optimum to high performance setting, if bios has that. it does warn though that the high setting is not guaranteed to not lock up after on for awhile, then requiring reboot.

Runs good on pc1 @ 800x32, med details, high sound on 1.5 ghz intel cpu/asus mobo/512 cache/512 ram/gforce xfx 128 mb (g4?) ... in easy single player ... yet to try big mutli match with more movement and such which will demand more of your vid card, cpu, and ram.Runs good as above in pc2 @ 800x16, low details, high sound on 1.3 ghz amd cpu/k7 triton mobo/512 cache/512 ram/gforce 2-64 mb. i may find it choppy in multiplayer ... when i get around to try it.box shows minimum and optimum requirements as will details on net. it said gf3-64. but seems the 64 mb vram matters more then version of geforce.reamdme.txt on cd says some problems with other cards. prefers gforce.

the cd changer appears to have added my new key for bf.i looked in registry and saw the ergc folder and key changed by changer.i did not see a ergc folder for road to rome addon that has key too. there was a road to rome folder higher on reg list in different folder, but no ergc or key anywhere. i'll see what happens.

lol ... ok ... i'll try easier cd changer for bf & bfr in other pc ... otherwise have to reinstall wit hnew cds.I understand needing 2 cd and keys for 2 home pcs for main software. But to have to also buy doulbe addons seems maybe a bit much.So bfv has key too eh ?

Oh, I see. Wow, I can see !! Well the 15 min download didn't bother me as both mine and tiger pc here downloaded at same time.Still unsure why bot hpcs locked when codwar restarted at midnight. I tried it in won servers after that and had no prob there. o well.No one was intentionaly being disruptive, a common prob wit hsome maps seems to be small enclosed spawn area with too many spawning at once piling up and getting stuck or all dying, especially if ammo box there which should not be there or used i guess.

Just wondering if FA designers benefit from their time spent on it.Salute ;-)

No inteniton of flaming "tracy's" but as before in won and now in steam, i often get pc lockups when there. o well. something running thru their software my sodtware not like i guess. anyone else had similar probs there ?Salute :shock:

tigerhawk and i had probs start last few days all of a sudden with coldwar map locking our 2 pcs. we deleted the steam..\fa\maps\coldwar files from both pcs ... when we both were playing this evening, and coldwar map in cycle started, we both got 15 min download of the map from you, then both got in and finished map without probs ... we both played on for hrs ... next time, around midnight, coldwar map was to start, AGAIN TOTAL PC LOCKUP ... !!Another prob all to familiar to y'all is small enclosed spawn points where spawners pile up, get stuck or die. Guess we must remember to get out fast ignoring the ammo box.Salute from Shultz.

I sympasize. The former idea of booting from cd or floppy best. But without borrowing cd from someone, only option is step by step boot option til you find device driverfile or exe that won't load, then step by step again and say no when you get to it. Do you know dos commands ?If you can figure out the problem file and/or folder, i'd try deleting that id dos.Persevere ... you can't come out with ideas if you get flustered ... stay calm and find someone to lend cd maybe.

I'll delete coldwar from both pcs to see if later when it comes up in cycle, if it downloads. Or will it ?I think i still have that big 2.8 installer in pc1, but would have to copy to cd or download to pc2.If necessary to reinstall ... what exactly must i do ? I mean ... do i just tell steam to remove fa, then reboot, tell steam to put back fa ?Or would i have to do the above and reinstall sierra folder\fa also ?and ... :roll: would reinstall overwriting work or would full uninstall, reboot, folder deleting be needed, then reboot and reinstall ?Salute :shock:
