  1. Just put this thread out of it's misery! I personally thought it was cool despite not much being done to it. Stop bashing it for what it isn't, appreciate it for what it is!!!!
  2. First off, Nadril, your the reason that I did this. You did such a good job on your planets that I simply had to try it out myself. I didn't do them exactly the same way you did (your planet effect is much better IMO) but the way they're arranged looks cool. It's a large image, 1280 by 1024 in a 4:3 ratio or something close to that, so if you felt like it you could use it as a wallpaper. I do But anyways, here it is BTW, yes I know that the little blue planet has a purple atmosphere. Unfortunately coloring the planet blue changed the atmosphere as well. Oh well, many people wouldn't have noticed it before I added this, but I though that those that did would want to know why.
  3. Well, it certainly is interesting. I think with a little work with making the colors blend a little better it could look nice. Maybe remove the lighting effect. I never used that because there really isn't a use for it that I've found. Try it without the lighting effect and I think it would look more even. And if you want a great tutorial site, try www.pixel2life.com They have over 6000 Photoshop tutorials alone, and cover at least 20 more programs besides Photoshop. lol, you guys are going to get me doing more graphics design than gaming again.
  4. I thought it worked out nicely. I think the most dramatic change was just the music added. It's funny because I have a version of that song he used for Morrowind. But anyways, you did a good job. It's the simple jobs that make a name for yourself.

I probably won't get it first thing, but I think I'll buy it eventually. Who knows, maybe I'll finally learn why people bother with MMOs (the monthly fee ones). The fact that the people making it also worked on Diablo is a good sign that it will actually be fun, not the mindless killing of rats for hours and hours and hours and... *goes on for 20 days* ... and hours. So who knows, even though I don't like MMOs all that much, you might see me on this one. Oh, just as an FYI, for RPGs and more... cerebral games like that, I tend to go with the name ZorlenTrivar. It's supposed to represent my good side, while Zuljin is my dark, murderous, stabbity-death-loving side. If it confuses you, join the club; I don't get it either
  6. Carl, I meant that I was frustrated with Internet Exploder before this, and that this was the last straw. They always say that the grass is greener on the other side, and in this case the other side was assessible, free and best of all, actually better than the pasture I had to put up with earlier. I was fed up with settling for sub par with Internet Exploder when Firefox was so much easier, more convenient and so much more secure. So, this issue was the straw that broke the camels' back, the grain that tips the scale, the drop that broke the dam... Whatever you want to call it, the result is the same. I will tolerate that crap for only so long. And since you expressed concern about the users the view it with Internet Exploder, I also said that I am making strides to fix the problem. Of course when I fixed the initial problem, but another showed up. I just recently found a solution for the new one and will be implementing it when I get the chance. There is a method to my madness! ...I think :sorry: So please don't assume that I'm leaving more than 90% of the internet users out in the rain. I feel sorry for them, so I shall provide for them. Finally, since I'm starting to see a pattern of people not understanding my posts because they're (the posts, not the people ) somewhat incoherent. I apologize about this, I've always been told that I have an odd thought process. If something that I say doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll explain it better.
  7. Good luck with your new server. If you guys need some target practice I could always come over there :sorry:

No problem. It's always a pleasure to help a person in need... even if they like to blow my head off. :sorry:
  9. Yeah, the avant browser doesn't look all that great. But anyone have ideas on how to fix my webpage again? Now instead of the side bars blown out od porportion, it's the content header(The big yellow gradient) that gets expanded in IE. Please don't tell me I have to put the content box in it's own table within a table >_< PS, that what I did for the side bar, took the entire thing and made it it's own table and then placed it in a large cell.

Would that be www.deviantart.com? It's where I get a lot of my brushes and stuff. For fonts, go to www.dafont.com. For filters.... I'm sorry but Google knows all :sorry: While I kinda think that it's cool how it blends in with the forum background, emphasizing the "sneaky" in your name, I agree with everyone in the "Meh" catagory.
  11. Ok, I managed to fix the interface problem in IE where it distorts the interface for longer pages, for example the index page. BUT, there's a problem with that fix.... It screws up the short pages now. GG Internet Exploder, you are a pain in the behind >_< That reminds me, I gotta check to see how it works in Firefox :o I hope I didn't screw with it there! Also, before this gets too much into a flame war against Internet Exploder, this thread was started because I couldn't believe that it would be so retarted when it first distorted my SR Project webpage. This latest incident only reinforced that opinion. I tolerated IE untill then, but that was the last straw. It's true that it's shortcomings can be overcome, it's just easier to switch over to Firefox. You may now continue bashing Microsoft >update< Whew, it still works perfectly in Fire Fox. Thank god for FireFox! :sorry:
  12. Now now ripper, it's just a mod. It's not worth severing friendships over dissenting opinions about a mod. I can really see some great gameplay once all the issues are smoothed out. As is, it's still a fun alternative to CSS is small doses. Good news is that new maps for it are already in the works, some nearly done already :o That'll fix some of the staleness that settles in after a while of playing PoA. Oh, before you worry about rushed, and therefore crappy maps, because the screenshots are very very promising on most of the new maps.
  13. This is one of the best/worst part of the game, at least for the moment. It's a battle of stratagy, which makes this a double edged sword. On the one hand, it's a refreshing diversion from the mindlessnes of CSS, but not everyone grasps it quite yet. It gets annoying when your team is attacking, but your the only one that goes to the objective chosen. Also, people don't seem to notice the warning saying where the other team is attacking, which can be annoying for the only defensive person that responds. For the first full fledged mod for Half Life 2, it's an awsome start. Now... if they could just expand their weapon and map list....
  14. I'm not arguing about the core gameplay mechanics, the running and gunning are similar to Counter Strike. However, what sets it apart from CS is that there is true stratagy involved. Someone has to pick an objective for the team and that choice can have different effects. On the one hand, you may get a cash bonus for better guns. On the other you could gain extra experience to better handle your current weapons. You can even bankrupt your enemy by capturing their base, a tactic which is devilishly fun because you get to mow down pistol packing weaklings with your rifles >;D. And the reverse is also true. The defending team has a disadvantage in that they don't know how the other team will act. Therefore you place yourself in your enemy's shoes and guess what they'll do. It offers tactical goodness on a smaller scale than an RTS such as Starcraft for those who can't handle ordering armies all at once(like me ) So that's my 2 cents. If you feel that I'm wrong feel free to make your opinion heard. It's been too long since I've had an intelligent debate :peace:
  15. I know that everyone has their own opinions, but Plan of Attack really isn't as bad as some of you make it out to be. PoA is simply an adjustment from what we're used to. It's always like this when something new comes out. I, for one, didn't really get FA when I first tried it because it was so different from what I was used to, aka CS. Today, I still can't figure out how to aim with the default crosshairs, but I learned to appreciate the objective based gameplay style. PoA is no exception. While FA and DoD(WW2 equivalent of FA.... sort of) have more of a Real Time Stratagy element, PoA is more turn based with each round being a turn and each team switches attacking and defending roles each round. I'm not saying that this makes up for it's annoying bugs(Unconnected anyone?) and lack of maps, but I *am* saying not to give up on this Mod. Give it some time and you may or may not find at least a gem in the rough with this mod.
  16. I have to agree with ripper here. The mod really isn't all that bad, but there's one thing that really REALLY irks me to no end but is no fault of the Mod: Your team usually doesn't have a brain! I mean your team usually isn't this retarted, but when someone sets an objective, please for the sake of my sanity GO TO IT! Many times it's been just me at the objective with no help and my team wonders why we lose the round Although, I *did* manage to do a solo cap of the N-Tech offices :peace: The skill system is ok, for example trying to fire a rifle as a ranger is crazy innacurate. You have to get a few levels in a class to really see a difference when using their favored weapons. While the weapon selection is kinda bland, it is well balanced. Thank god there are no uber weapons like the FAMAS and m82 from FA or the awp, autosnipers and autoshottie from CS/CS:S. Even the default pistol use useful with a few levels as a Ranger. All in all, this mod is like DoD meets Counterstrike. If they could make it more like DoD instead of Counterstrike then I'd love it all the more, but then they'd have to rehaul their objective system which I actually like a lot. I can't wait to see where this mod goes in the future, it has great potential.
  17. Now that was hilarious! I loved the politics debate
  18. Well yeah, because you gotta get the exact pixels that you want, that and part of the gravity gun was in the lower corner, so I had to stamp it out.
  19. I vote no on this one. Anyone who plays on the CSS server knows that I die. a LOT. And in exceedingly stupid ways, such as being shot in the head after unloading 8 loads of buckshot from the pump into someone's back. Now then, I'm also almost always the first to dying the round as well, so there has to be something exciting to watch if your own team is camping after saying "Rush the Bombsite!" The boredom from the watching a camper can slow your reactions resulting in a flaming spiral of death and pwned-ness and unpleasantries. So, think of the people lacking survival skills and don't restrict dead-vision to team only.
  20. I couldn't agree with you more Carl. 20 is a good number for any map, but I do so much better when there's only like 8* people on the server so not every path is covered Flanking people is my passion, stabbing them in the back my pleasure *this applies for the CSS server
  21. I never said spyware only comes from Internet Exploder, I said I got a lot less from Firefox :peace: As for Firefox all the way, I couldn't agree more BTW, the visual bookmarks thing for Firefox is a built in feature it's very conveneint as are the tabbed browsing
  22. Yeah, I won't argue with that Carl, But going to the same sites with FireFox and having no problems whatsoever kinda deflates my enthusiasm for Internet Exploder. Those activex things probably got installed after I got tired of IE, so that's not really a problem, and I don't go to bittorrent sites as often as you may think; only if things like my Photoshop or Cinema 4D get corrupt so I can reDL them. Usually only go to Graphics sites(Yes, believe it or not I am a Graphics Artist. I'm one of the graphics mods at WebCargo Studios) or gaming sites like this.
  23. Most definately 3, especially after you add the fading effect to the red line.
  24. *pulls out the flashy thing from MIB and uses it* You never saw torrentspy.com in my favorites. :peace:
  25. I'm done with Internet Exploder (aka Internet Explorer, the browser that comes with every copy of Windows). There's soooo much spyware that's crawling through it nowadays that it's simply not worth it. That and it doesn't display my Senior Project properly while FireFox does :peace: So much for Internet Exploder being compatible with everything. Sorry, but I feel a tangent coming on, bear with me... I think it's funny that I've had all year to do this project but I've only just recently gotten any real work done on it. That and the fact that it's due in about a month isn't very good seeing as I have a LOT of stuff to do still .... Ok, the tangent has worn off, it's safe to come out now! Does anyone else share my sentiments? With Internet Exploder, my adaware caught at least 50 spyware per scan which I made daily then. When I switched over to FireFox, I get like 6 every week. That and Tabbed browsing is a blessing as is the built in pop-up blocker. Now, I'm not going to tell you guys to switch to Firefox as well, but if you did you won't regret it. Here's a screenshot of what my first webpage is supposed to look like next to what Internet Exploder bastardized it into: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v426/zorlentrivar/intexploder.jpg
