Blizzard was 20 years ahead of themselves with artwork...
It seems the art dept. at Blizzard was 20 years ahead of the rest of the game. The titan ring is an asset used in the current expansion. Yeah I caved and started playing WoW again. https://www.dexerto.com/world-of-warcraft/wow-player-discovers-incredible-secret-hidden-in-vanilla-install-discs-2476511/

No More EV Battery Replacements? VW's Solid State Cell Holds Up for 300K Miles
I know about the recent bill but, and its a big but, the infrastructure / power grid as a whole is in such bad shape it cant handle mass adoption of EVs. Hell in Cali they were telling people not to charge their cars this past summer and they are one of the main proponents to be pushing EVs. Yeah i know it's because of the water levels in the reservoirs and not being able to generate enough power but thats part of the problem. Power generation plants are part of the power grid and it has to be modernized and honestly over built to be able to do this. I would love for the tech to get to the point that I didn't have to buy gasoline any more or go in for oil changes but at our ages I'm doubtful it will be while I'm striding the planet. I could be wrong though. Look how far we've come technology wise in just 30 yrs.

No More EV Battery Replacements? VW's Solid State Cell Holds Up for 300K Miles
That's great and all but honestly, unless you do nothing but run errands around town 250 to 200 miles at a full charge just ain't gonna get it. Double that and maintain the life expectancy then we can talk. The power grid in the US is so pieced together and spotty that mass distribution of charging stations is impossible so you are limited to larger cities and close to home if you have a charger. No one in government gets that in order to make electrics viable they first have to get our power grid up to a level that can support it and develop new power generation facilities that offer clean energy at high demand. If you really want electric vehicles to start being a thing increase the range , extend battery life, and develop energy production to a state that will support it nationwide. Off hand more research into Thorium based nuclear would be my first suggestion. Far safer than current Uranium based nuclear reactors, we actually have a lot more thorium than we have Uranium, and if you combine it with a molten salt tech you dont have to seed the reaction with say Plutonium. Until they get off their arses and invest in all of this instead of sending trillions to other countries that will cut our throats at the drop of a hat we stand no chance in moving everyone ofver to full EVs and the best they can hope for is hybrid. /rant hahaha

The New Battlestar Galactica Reboot Gets a Promising Update
Again? I mean I loved the original, the first reboot was pretty good as well (Katie Sackhoff rawwwr) but again? I mean it seems everything is getting a reboot or a re-reboot these days. is it impossible to come up with something original anymore? What I'm waiting for and hope they do it because I would love to see it using modern CGI is Babylon 5. I mean as good as it was and how awesome it looked the CGI was done with an Amiga PC. Can you imagine what it could be like now. Holy crap!

Amazon Rolling Out Ads to Prime Video on Jan. 29
Welp time to dump prime video. If I'm paying for the service I dont want to see ads. Just another way a company is trying to squeeze more money out of folks. Oh and dont hand me the crap in the article about original content costs xxx.xx to make, One didn't ask for it, and two it was fairly crappy at best so yeah. Quit trying to be NetFlix and just do what you are good at.

Well I have finally done it...
Welp the results are in: OMG is this thing fast! Apparently I can still build a good machine. Played about 4 hours of World of Tanks Sunday evening and averaged around 170ish FPS on ultra settings. Curious as to what its gonna do on a BR type game or a FPS title. Heck I'm almost tempted to load up BF4 or BF1 and give those a shakedown. No reason not to now that I have a 2TB SSD for game files. I have BF2042 I could load up but Im still a bit iffy on that one even after the updates. We shall see though.

All better now. Firing up and reloading stuff this evening for some gaming this weekend.

Well I have finally done it...
New PC was built Wednesday. Got it home and started setting it up but waited till after Thanksgiving to get on it. Unfortunately Friday morning I got bitten by a spider while out walking the dog Friday morning and have been sick as a dog all weekend long. From loading stuff and general setup use its super fast which is exciting but I havent opened it up yet to see just what it will do under a load. Figured while I was at it I may as well replace the primary monitor with a 1440P Gigabyte gaming monitor as well, so i will be going from 24-27-24 setup to two 27" monitors on the unit. I've really considered going 24-27-27-24 but that will definitely have to wait until I move and can set it up in the office upstairs without the built in cabinets over the desk so it will all fit.

Well I have finally done it...
Ordered the stuff to finally build my new rig! Ditched the Intel CPU for a AMD Ryzen 7 7700 but decided to stay with Nvidia for the GPU as a got a great deal on a 12g 3060 Gaming. 32GB of RAM and sor storage I went with Samsung Evos. a 970 500gb for the C drive and a 980 Pro 2 TB for the storage drive. Seeing as my current rig is a 5th gen i5 with 16bg of RAM and a 1650 I am expecting to see i slight bump in performance hahaha. Might actually be able to play something everyone else is playing now.

Dune: Awakening
I saw this and a few things immediately hit me. Firstly I was like "How the hell did I not know this was a thing?". I try to keep up on MMOs that are in development and or releasing but haven't heard a peep about this one. I'm curious how they are gonna pull off the survival game / MMO thing as normally survival games are at best coop games and usually single player. Second, I was super excited about the fact it was based on Dune. Dune has been and for the foreseeable future be in my top three Sci-Fi settings. The last Dune based game, to the best of my knowledge, was the RTS Dune 2000 game similar to Red Alert back in the day and my god did I have hours invested in that game. If anyone is impressed with my 1000+ Hrs invested in Rocksmith I will say that Dune 2000 has that number dwarfed by a longshot. Its being developed by Funcom that did the Conan:Exiles and Anarchy Online so they definitely have the chops to crank out a decent MMO. If they can nail the IP I gotta say it could turn out to be a pretty damned decent game. They are registering for Alpha and Beta on the Funcom website and imagine my surprise to find a new Dune based RTS game in early access on Steam by them, Dune:Spice Wars, as well. Enjoy folks I know I will.

Thousands of people are uninstalling ad blockers after YouTube's big crackdown
I would have no issue with ads if they played one ad at the beginning of the video and or 1 at the end however getting multiple unskippable ads in the middle of the video, even the skippable ones detract from the video. A lot of what I use YT for is how to videos and sometimes, not often but sometimes the ads clip out important information. I had a video just the other day that the ad clipped about a second and a half of info out of and when I rewatched the video with the blocker working I was finally able to get the info. Granted that doesn't happen often but it does happen. It's not just in video ads either, there are sponsored ads all over the video player itself. and lets not forget that Google owns YouTube. Do a google search and see how many "sponsored" results come up at the top of the search results. Usually the first page is over half sponsored results wanting you to buy something that may or may not have anything to do with what you were searching for so Im guessing that their revenue stream is pretty solid and would allow them to not be as intrusive with ads on YT. I get that YT is a business and needs to generate revenue however, that does not give them the right to subject its users to bombardment from ads. Google's mantra since its beginnings was dont be evil as a jab at Microsoft yet here we are with them taking on most of the aspects of that same entity that they so adamantly wanted to be different than. There is a balance that YT has no achieved and honestly hasn't looked for IMHO. I considered subbing to the premium service as i also watch some videos on my smart TV but when you feel that you need to charge more for a sub than HBO/Max or Disney then its gonna have to be a hard pass for me.

FYI, for now you can download the uBlock Origin extension and install it. Open the dashboard for the extension and at the top click purge all caches. When that finishes doing its thing click Update Now. Presto Youtube works with this blocker. You will need you repurge and update again if YouTube starts screaming about ad blockers again but for now it works.

Sorry I have been MIA
Thanks pal. Things are going well and getting back to work has definitely helped. The thing thats most bothersome is that now the house is so quiet at night its been hard to get to sleep. Sounds weird but after years of at least some background noise at night the silence is deafening.
