  1. Blowing ammo boxes in spawn You mean. I remember some admin (SC probably) stating, that blowing up ammo boxes on the map (not spawn)was for 'strategic purposes'. I am referring to players who are on the same team as you, and not players from the opposing team. Players from the opposing team can blowup ammo boxes at will...it's part of the game... 8)
  2. Very well said K1Delta....A applaud you
  3. I am reading all this and it all sounds like a broken record, and is basically the same rhetoric I've heard over and over again. The Senior Counsel has discussed these issues extensively, and we came to a few conclusions:1) How do you define an exploit? 2) Who defines an exploit?2) Is one person's idea of an exploit the same as another?3) Should it be the server's responsibility to police these exploits, or should it be the programmers and map makers to correct the issues?3) Once defined (if possible) how do you enforce a suspected "exploit" so all Admins are on the same sheet of music? We had similar problems before where one Admin allowed a player to do whatever, only to be kicked by another Admin who said it was not ok.The term "exploit" is typically used by people who get killed by another and don't like it...simple as that. Some people think they are so damn good, and just hate it when a player kills them for whom they cannot own.We are always open to suggestions to make the game fair and balanced, so please give us some specifics where each "exploit" can be defined so each and every Admin would have a clear...very clear set of instructions on what they need to look out for. Also, remember that Admins also like to play and enjoy the game, and do not want to spend the entire game telling every new "Freshmeat" to get off of a cliff or whatever, or tell him to stand up so he can be shot by those who are "skilled".We have rules already in place...for example- We do not allow spawn camping- We do not allow any actions that would disrupt gameplay like blowing up ammo boxes, etc.- We do not allow swearing (cussing) or name calling to keep the game friendly. I must say that preventing this takes a lot of work just to maintain the peace.I hope I explained my (our) views here. We want you guys to have a fun time, but please examine all aspects of what you are asking. Give us clear and defined "exploits", and not generalizations.

  5. I have never had, or heard of ".exe" errors, so it must be only happening to you. I would suggest reinstalling it. IMHO, and at the present time, BF:Vietnam is the best FPS game in the world.
  6. The "TA Members and Friends" section of the Gallery is reserved for actual pictures of Members and friends...\Thanks
  7. Thanks SirCamp
  8. Where do I get that one from? I have never seen it
  9. Thanks for the kind words sgodssard34, we sure do like to hear nice comments, especially from an FA legend like you. You were by far the best in Firearms ever to play the game. Any player that has ever played the game has either played against you, or has heard of you. Firearms has one last chance to make it big with the new release of 2.9, coupled with the fact that it will be added to the Steam Update engine. We will just have see...With games like BF1942, America's Army, and the new addition of BF: Vietnam, Firearms will be very hard-pressed to compete against this new generation of games. I personally only play BF:Vietnam these days because it is such a fascinating and fun game. To be able to ride in a jeep or helicopter and shoot at the enemy is a blast. If you decide to play another game outside Firearms, I would recommend purchasing a copy of BF:Vietnam, and join us in the TA BF:Vietnam server. It has everything you always wanted to see in Firearms, but more. I just can't wait to get home from work and play it .it is very cool :)Anyways, good luck to you as you are always welcome at The Armory servers.RegardsGator
  10. I will be changing the map cycle very soon. We try to spice things up a bit by changing the map cycle regularl basis. As you can see by the comments above, some people like certain maps while others do not. We try to please as many as we can, but we cannot please all. Instead of saying that this or that map sucks, please let us know what maps you would like to see.

Kingpin is experimenting with a new block that will provide additional info of the users....it is not complete yet, and when it is...we will turn off the other one

I did not see that post, and I must say that it is not allowed or tollerated either. I have since deleted it....It is not a dictatorship (that is truely a bad choice of words) at all, but rather a home where friends gather. Not only have I deleted (or edited) some TA member posts, but I have also edited and deleted some of my own posts I felt were inappropriate. Believe it or not, we seldom delte posts from here, but rather chose to lock them instead. The way you answered your post above was very classy and mature. You expressed your views, and it was received positively. Its ok for posters to say how they feel, but how the say it is what is important here. Jsut like our server has been for the past 2 years, we try our best to keep it frindly. If we see this being violated, I can honestly say that we will immediately remove the bad element.Lastly, my apolgies for not giving you a PM or talking to you on MSN. I actually think you are a pretty good person DasHuhn, and I encourage your comments and opinions.

DasHun, you are obviously clueless, so I will leave this alone. You are always negative about anything we do, so try to be postive for once in your life  Also, please show me this post

One last thing I forgot to meniton... Upon registering for this website, you are required to check a box that says "I agree to be bound by this website's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy." If you would like a refresher here it is... http://www.thearmory.cc/modules.php?op=modload&name=legal&file=index Please refer to: Catagory # 2 titled "Our Service" Catagory # 6 titled "Your Conduct" You agreed to be bound by this and then cried when it was used, but I fail to see where "Freedom of Speech" or any other US "law" would have any problems after you accepted the agreement.
  17. Well, I agree we should have it running, but Steam has caused many problems in the past. I will engage it today, but if the server is empty, you will understand.... 8)
  18. Gator replied to Manchini-FR-'s topic in Main Hall
I don't think you guys completely understand what "Freedom of Speech" actually involves, or who and where it may apply. Freedom of speech does not mean that you can go anywhere and say anything you want. There are laws that prevent such things to protect innocent victims of verbal abuse, and other related items like giving out personal health information, etc. Here is the actual Freedom of Speech?as defined in the U.S. Bill of Rights, which in and amendment to the U.S. Constitution: The Freedom of Speech law is there to protect people from government reprisal for saying how they feel in printed or spoken words. The Armory website is our home, and is not a governmental agency; thus we do not fall under the Freedom of Speech? act. Our forums are a PRIVATE gaming clan site, but we open our doors and let the public in, as long as they voice their opinion in a friendly and non-abusive manner. Remember, this is our home Now, as far as you comment is concerned For one thing, your words did not really say much of anything, but were simply a few words placed to say something negative and non-productive. In the future, and if you do have something constructive to say, please say it in terms that can be understood by the reader. If you have a problem writing in English, I would suggest you use the French or German sections of our forums to express your thoughts and opinions. Your post was blatantly unfriendly and non-constructive, and made absolutely no sense whatsoever. If you are not satisfied with this answer, I would suggest you purchase your own website and set up your own forum. Once established, you can voice your thoughts and opinions any way your little heart desires. I don't know why, but I sense there is some jealousy with certain players in the FA community against TAC. There really should not be, but apparently there is I just wish it would stop It's just plain silly!
  19. Well Stealth, if you ever lose your server, you guys are always welcomed here at the Armory. You have a bunch of good guys and we enjoy having you all on the server.
  20. I tried to keep this as short as I could, but it may be a little long. Anyway, here we go Answer: You say you like TA, but yet your paragraph reflects nothing but dislike and discontent. I will this one alone Answer: You shouldn't feel hurt? because I asked you nicely to stop soliciting funds for your privately? owned/rented server in our forums. As far the issue concerning the "locking" of Grits forum post, well, I'm not sure which Admin locked it, but I can say it was an appropriate action given the circumstances and nature of your request. Let me give you some insight. Just a few months ago, although not publicized, The Armory server, website, and clan was about to come to an end after 2 long years of dedicated service to the FA community. I posted a message in our TAC Senior Counsil? section and informed all the SC members that I was growing tired of maintaining the servers, the website, and all finances, and that I would like to handover the TAC operations to someone else, or close down our operations altogether. At the time, it seemed I was spending more time administrating all of the various facets of the clan, server, and website. I suddenly realized I was spending less and less time to enjoy playing the game I so loved. It was becoming more of a business than a pleasure, and when the pleasure is gone. I also told them that I would be unable to continue renting the server because our funds were depleted, and I could not justify paying for all the services by myself, as their past donations were the financial backbone of our existence. They responded quickly and made substantial donations to keep the server afloat. They also asked me to stay on in my present capacity as clan administrator (as we have a Senior Counsel rather than a clan leader), and to take the lead in keeping things together. In addition to donating their hard earned personal funds, they also offered to help me with maintaining both sever and website. Answer: I haven't a clue what you are talking about here, so I will let this one go Answer: Well, to be quite honest, I didn't even know you had a server, or a website for that matter. I don't routinely visit other clan websites, because I barley have enough time to visit ours. What are our ethics you ask? We routinely maintain the highest standards in everything we do, whether it is our No foul language policy, or the fact that we remove Llamas from the server who disrupt gamplay. We always strive to do our best to keep the server clean, friendly, and enjoyable to all those who visit us. When our Senior Counsel makes decisions concerning the clan, server, or website, we review them thoroughly, collectively, and impartially. As soon as a decision is made, however, we immediately make it known to public, and most importantly we stick by our decision(s). We do not have any hidden agendas here at TAC, and we are willing to listen to anyone's suggestion or complaint. Answer: The existence of your server has absolutely no impact on keeping FA alive, nor would the absence of The Armory server for that matter. There are many empty FA servers out there in the www. Those server owners/renters would just love to have their servers populated with players, but unfortunately that's not the case. There are many reasons for this, but I won't elaborate because I don't want to get off topic here. If you are trying to infer that we try to fill a pocket for The Armory server, I must tell you that you are ABSOLUTELY WRONG. We are not the Microsoft of Firearms, and we DO NOT have an endless cash flow to pay for things. We have a small cash flow that takes us from month to month, just as case with most other clan servers. The link on our site called Like to Donate? brings in approximately 3 % of the total funds used to pay for our current services. Approximately 97% of the donated money comes directly from our adult TAC clan members, and without them, the Armory would not be alive today. With the exception of a few small donations, the link is primarily used as a gateway by the adult TAC clan members to make monthly server, website, and Ventrilo payments. Answer: You have your own website to ask for donations, and you also have the Firearms forums as well (As I suggested in Grit's post). It is simply inappropriate for you to ask for donations on a clan site that also relies on donations itself. That's just downright unethical and just plain silly. Answer: No, I am not going to lock this post Now, for my closing comments: Let me give you a little history of the Armory server here. The very first PC game I ever played in my life was a game called Firearms, and I started playing that about 3 years ago. The reason I started The Armory server is kind of a long story, but I will try to briefly tell you what led to it's conception. When I started to play Firearms, I would enter various FA servers where I found players and Admins chastising me for using the Aug. I guess I was a Newb, but I didn't know any better. I figured I paid for the damn game, why are they telling me how to play it. Apparently, and as I found out later, the AUG was banned on many servers at the time, so I switched to the M-16/203 to stop all of the verbal abuse I was receiving from them. One day I was playing on a server where ps_street was the map. I shot the M203 in the middle hallway and wiped out about 3-4 players (very cool by the way). The next thing you know I was verbally abused for using it. They said the M-79/M203 was not allowed to be used indoors on their server, but was allowed to be used outdoors. I thought to myself, what kind of server dictates where weapons are used. They called me every nasty name they could, and then they banned me. Hence: Two days later, The Armory server was born. It seems only yesterday, but I had recently been discharged from the United States military after serving 24 years of honorable service. I really wanted to play FA because I found it so interesting and fun to play, so I started looking around for a game server. It was then I realized they were all very expensive to rent. After a few days of searching the web, I found a new company that was offering a 20-player FA server for $60 a month, so I rented it. I knew I could not afford to keep paying that much money for an extended period of time, but I just wanted a few months of playing on a server where weapons were not banned, and the little adolescent punks would not verbally abuse myself or other players. Well, I finally retuned home from my new civilian job one day, and quickly got to work on setting up the server. I started reading about how to setup and use a Half-Life server using a tool called AdminMod, because at the time I did not have a clue. Once I got this things set up, I suddenly realized something...there were no players playing on the server. My daughter, at the time, did not like to play Firearms, so I purchased another copy of HL and installed it on her system. I told her to enter the game just move around to make it look like there were two players playing in the server. It seemed to work, because as days passed, players started to show up regularly on the server. Once the server gained popularity, I no longer needed her to help me jumpstart the server. I noticed that people had uniformed tags in front of their name, so I came up the [TA]-, mainly to show visiting players that I was a part of the server. After time, we started to get many regulars to the server. They liked the rules and complemented me on having a nice place to play with a great ping. That in itself motivated me to keep things running longer. When I thought all was well, they started to ask me if they could join the clan. I told them there was not a clan, but if they played here a lot, they were welcome to display the [TA]- tag. More time passed, and one of the regular players (using the [TA] tag) asked about making TA an official clan, so I did some investigating and signed us up. Sounds easy? I can tell you it wasn't for me anyway. To qualify as an official FA clan, the clans were required to have a website, so we used MSN freebee at first to get us by. As time went on, I later learned how to create a website on my own, but it took me on a long journey to get there. I thought, omg, now I have to fork out money for a website that I really didn't have at the time. After we were officially an "FA clan"?, and sometime later, one of the clan members suggested placing a "PayPal"? donation link on the main website. The rest, as you know, is TA history. I'm giving you this brief insight as to how The Armory came about, and some of the growing pains of starting a server, clan and website. Each clan is on their own, and it is not a community of giving to each other's clan. It doesn't work that way. Regards, Gator

    - The Armory website: $10.00 a month - The Armory server rentals: $190 a month - Asking a member of another clan to please stop asking donations for his clan's server fees: Priceless! - The Armory website and it's servers are soley funded from donations from it's users - The Armory Staff would appreciate it if you would not ask for donations on it's website, as the Firearms forums would be a more appropriate place to ask for such donations for your clan. Regards, Gator
  22. Can I join ya to consume rivers of alcoholic beverages with pretty ladies? Oh congrats by the way ...good luck... now you have to go to work
  23. We know there was not any lag, but I am trying to troubleshoot why the server crahes every 24 hours or so. We will return to 28 in the future
