BF2, worth a try?
I've been playing PRMM for quite a while now (I can't remember if I made a thread on it.. or... fO_o; ) and am wholly impressed with the progress it's making. Dependent on the servers you go on, you can get some REALLY, REALLY good teamwork-oriented squads. But, uhh.... We're playing together sometime. I demand it. I'll be the squad leader/pointman. >:] The v0.506 is out and it OWNS. Hit me up on XFire sometime and we'll coordinate. Oh, for the record, I like to be a bit off-the-wall with the squads I lead: Special Forces only, Paradrop, Little Bird insertion, et cetera. Special Forces only is USMC only, though. British/MEC/Insurgent just doesn't cut it in the SF department. You guys should have let me know you were playing PRMM, 'cause I've been playing alone for all these months! T____T But Mute: Absolutely get PRMM.

lawllershakes. Look at the other sigs, too, which I think are a bit higher quality. =)

It's good that you mention this, actually; I went ahead and did as you said, word for word pretty much, but it's the part I quoted that I have troubles with. Parts of the text become near-invisble and that, obviously, won't work.Thinking that an outer glow would assist, I went ahead and gave it a white outer glow of 2 pixels at 60% opacity; still, parts of the text seemed invisible. Are you familiar with this? How would I go about fixing it? Are there other blending options I should fiddle with? T___T As I keep saying (because it feels so good), thanks and thanks in advance.

[sig]First Try
I thought I'd bump this... 'cause I do have/am working on a new sig! The biggest suggestion I need here is text; I want it to be "calm." I need it to be clean, crisp, thin, and really kind of blended in to the background but I'm getting kind of frustrated because I can't nail the text effects I'm looking for! http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g317/MisterBiscuit/wip.jpg Anyway, as you can see, this new sig is a bit of a more -- I believe this is the term the photoshop community uses -- abstract piece. My goal was to create a more smooth, clean (not grungy, really) sig with a colour balance that accentuates the whiter aspects and dumbs down the blacker parts but keeps them visible and recognizable. As with some of my other sigs, I'm having troubles with the text. Any help as far as strategies to use here, blending options that don't make it too transparent, anything at all really that you think would help me make the sig better, please throw it at me. I tell ya what - There are no tutorials that give much help with text. ><;; I understand my description of the text effect I'm looking for is quite terrible, but just give some suggestions and I'll toy around with 'em. I can also send a .PSD if anyone would prefer to work on the sig, too. Now, in response to some of the posts I've been too lazy to reply to... >:] I don't wanna! ;_; Thanks. I'm rather fond of it and consider it to be my best work to date, despite still being unhappy with the text. As far as the noise suggestion you offered goes, I'll experiment with it - I've done something similar, but I think I might have some brushes that accomplish the effect I'm searching for. On tutorials, I'm definitely looking around, but having some serious troubles finding anything that matches the style I'm wanting to mirror, especially with text. Thanks. I've been experimenting with C4D renders (I'm not skilled enough to create my own sadly) and fractals and have been quite pleased with the results and right now I'm going back through my tech-abstract phase. I think what makes or breaks a sig is effectively the use of text in it, and that's why I really want to crack down on my text skills before I even try to progress further in brushing and colouring. As detailed above, I really need help with text - suggestions, sites, whatever you can offer, I'll definitely look into them. I'm in a minimalist stage, so I want my text to be small and crisp. I really appreciate the suggestions and comments, everyone. Thanks, once more, and another thanks in advance for further help! ~Biscuit

ATTN MMOPRG people
Well, I'll put it rather simply -- and I totally agree with the diamond in the rough cliche' -- this game is worth checking out and I know that some people absolutely love this game. I think, however, for a majority of MMOers, it would be best to wait it out - a month or so - until all the hiccups are done away with. The game has some FANTASTIC aspects (the world size really did blow me away) and I swear, if they could just capitalize on that, this could easily be one of the best MMORPGs on the market.. but I just don't see it as - as it is now - being worth paying monthly for. Graphically, I still - when I get on Florendyl rarely - am blown away. Very nice to look at, and that one Dorf place (Bordamere's Cleft or something like that?) was... so beautiful. It's worth looking into if nothing else. See if you like it. They give out free trials, IIRC, at like 10 per real account.

I tell you what, I played Vanguard... First impression - 4 hours of patching = sadness. The character customization was supreme, despite the fact I only could choose from, like, 3 hairstyles. It was very in-depth and I enjoyed feeling like my character was unique. The music was decent. It was once I actually got into the game I found myself incredibly distressed at how tremendously mediocre the game was. The UI was totally shoddy; things overlapped. I couldn't have window X open because window Y was large enough to literally take up the entire screen. Character handling wasn't nearly as fluid as I would have liked it to be: coming from WoW, this game was just... thrown into the MMOtrashcan. It has so much potential -- it really does -- but right now, it's just not something I can play. Between UI glitches and slow character recognition (typing), I just couldn't find myself pleased with the game. This makes me give this game a forceful... 2/10.

ArmA Demo
Okay, whoa, I just have to bump this... Last night, I did some ArmA tweaking; I've got to say, this game blows me away. BF2 on all high comes NOWHERE close to the graphics of this game: IT HAS HDR! The clunky handling of your soldier dissolves after about an hour of play, you become used to how to handle the gun, look around, et cetera. I've got to say, this is the most... immersive game I've ever played. I actually got lost. LOST! Behind enemy lines, no less. The only things that helped me get out? My compass, my map, my M4, and a whole lot of crawling. Urban combat is honestly just plain scary. The first time I heard a sniper shot ring off next to me, I sprinted back to the spawn. (For the record, those SVDs are LOUD!!) Certain things could be fixed, no doubt; BTRs take you out with a hail of bullets, not anti-personnel rounds. Aiming could be made considerably easier. Physics could be improved a bit. I'll just say this -- It's 100% worth checking into, and after playing the demo, deleting it, playing it again... I'm buying it, no doubt. It was a very scary experience playing pointman when clearing a building, you just don't get that with other games. Do yourself a favor and look into ArmA! ;;;

[sig] me
Very cool sig, and as far as being "busy," I think it was the desired effect because it makes it difficult to choose which part of the sig to focus on. Honestly, I sat here for about 3 seconds just trying to figure out where to start looking. Quite trippy. I dig it. Oh, and.. The Outer Limits FTW.

Ah, yes, I forgot to comment on this -- I recommend doing this with ANY gun. Strafe often; it leads you toward cover, too, albeit inadvertantly. -sniffle.- <3

CS:S Tips Needed
Generally speaking, the M4A1 and the AK are going to be your most versatile and weapons and they are the cheapest to buy bearing this versatility in mind. Whereas with the Galil/Famas, each has its major downfalls, the M4A1 and AK are quite well-rounded -- that is why I highly suggest them to newbs because they are absolutely, IMHO, the guns you should learn to play with. They stress spraying inaccuracy, they are powerful enough for 1 shot kills, they don't adversely affect running speed, they can be used in ANY situation. I wholeheartedly believe these are the guns to learn with but experimentation , naturally, is encouraged.

How to get the gf to be quiet and let me play
Acecombat 04 did the same with me when I sat about 3 feet from the widescreen TV I was playing on. I came back a few days later, playing for short periods of time ('cause I love the game), and basically disposed of the sickness through exposure. Might work for you too, if you're interested in H2.

Dead on; don't give ultimatums -- That's very, very risky. That's what my g/f played and she adores the idea of me playing with her. = =

You're quite welcome; I love helping out! (Thank you for the sig comment! You get a cookie for being the first to say something. <Enter cookie here.>) Like I said, I very well might throw a trick-jump / awesome hiding spot guide sometime. It'd require me going into a server with someone and having a screeny-fest, though. A very important aspect of CS:S is surprise -- you gotta keep the enemy on their toes! People already expect you to be in places A and B, so be ready to melt some phace at C, ya know? ^^ For anyone looking for a bit of coaching (1 on 1, real-time, whatever), just let me know! I'd gladly hop in a server and do whatever I can do help out. In this scenario, though, I'd definitely touch base on some more advanced tactics; probably better for moderate players, but I could always adjust based on player skill. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this topic, so be expecting me to post a lot in here! I'd be happy to answer more questions if you -- I really mean anyone -- have any! <3, Biscuit

Nah, most of the stuff I detailed in here is pretty beginner stuff. Maybe one day, I'll make a trick-jump/1337 hiding place catalogue for you guys! THAT is some advanced-level-stuff there.
