Ok I just watched A New Hope this week and I'm still amazed by how cool that universe feels and some of the designs are still as cool as they where back then.To Defcon:My question is why should he have to listen to the fan comunity? Did anyone ever ask Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola or any other director for that, to change thier movies because of the fans?!?!? I don't think so. I enjoy the movies for what they are and not my personal wishes I have for them to be...People need to relax a bit and enjoy things for what they are. Liking something or being a Fan dosen't give you automatically the right to say what should happen to it. So nexttime you go watch a movie just enjoy it for what it is, a pice of art and entertainment. Ether you like it or not, but you can't change the movie or expect sequels to be what you want....and if you don't like a movie and think they should do things your way why don't you go and become a movie director yourself and then you can listen to all the fans and their wishes and do what they want or maybe at that point you'd go "hm, I came that fare I wanna do my stuff and not their stuff". Possible?! who knows?Well I'm looking forward to EP3 and watching all the other ones on DVD,[DIAL]Doc

The problem I see is that today there are soo many different FPS games out there. It's much harder to find a commen ground every one likes. I for myself have played a lot of different ones over the years but I noticed a trend. Most new games have a much shorter life spawn than older ones did. I remeber I used to play Quake II mods long after Half-life and CS came out. Sure it didn't look as cool as HL or CS but the game play was fun and my hardware was able to run it smooth. Then I switched to Firearms and played (well still do) a lot. Again it might not look as pritty as BF:V or JO but I can run it at 100fps and have a great blast with a lot of people I know.I don't think the majority of people have the hardware it takes to run these new games as well as the old ones, that's also one of the reasons a lot of people still play these older games add to this the abundance (sp?) of so many FPS games it's only natural that the life spawn of game will never be as long as it used to be for Quake II or Half-Life.I own and played BF:V (also PoE) and JO (still do). Both games have their own charms and quicks (like FA dose) but both do not run 100fps on my system and there are a lot less people I know who play regularly. This might be due to the peoplebase being streched more thin due to the many choices and preferences.Also when I compare BF:V (also PoE) or JO to FA I still have a better time playing FA than any other game so far. Maybe because of the game play, the people, the fps and my preferences of game style or all of it, I don't really know what it is...We will see what the future will bring, I'm skeptical as of BF2 will be that good (same goes actually for HL2), sure looks nice and stuff but looks are just part of a good game and fun gaming experiance in my opinion. So we will see Personally I am a little bit upset at EA and their attempt to simplify games to apeal to mass marked (but then that might just be me ) Sure they added all the Vehicle stuff but then screwed up on the regular FPS game play (IMO, so please don't kill me if you disagree )Other would say that JO has better FPS game play but they totally screwed up the vehicles (at least choppers if you ask some people ) But since I don't really care that much for vehicles in a FPS I don't mind that. Again it's about what you like to play and nowadays there are so many different options.I'll be sticking around here what ever will happen. Even if we end up all playing different games I'll be here to chat or hang around with good friends I'll might even try all the different games :twisted: That's what makes this place such a great place to be. Ok so I guess we talk PC games only (it would be nice to know what PC he has but oh well) FPS: Doom3 is fun and a nice show-off if you have the hardware to play it FarCry haven't played it but should be nice from what I heard Joint Operations And why not right I like it RPGS: Never Winter Nights never played it but heard it's good (Hm, wouldn't know any recent good RPGs for PC right now, there is a few for PS2 I could name but well that's not the point ) Other than that if he has internet this www.gamerankings.com is a nice site to browse for games and collects all reviews for games and builds the average nice to even out the 'hypers' from the 'buuhhhers' Well time for me to play some FPS, [DIAL]Doc

ok 1st of all [DIAL] isn't dead It's nice of [TBT] to offer this, but I guess there it's a 'stale mate' :)which isn't surprising ether (long story and I wont bother you guys with it) on the other hand here is some background info for ya all and maybe some will understand a bit better afterwards...*story mode ON*Also wearing this tag ([DIAL]) has a lot more meaning for most of us in [DIAL] all current members of [DIAL] are long time friends (8+ years at least). It all got started long long time ago (18+ years) when some friends (other, older ones) decided they wanna create a computer club. The Commodore C64 was the big thing back then but still rather expensive. So they got together and did found a computer club with the purpose of spreading knowledge and fun using computers. The name was DIAL. At first C64 then later Ataris and Amigas (you guys still with me here, right?). Then PC became more popular and replaced the older systems. With the PC came the networking (or LAN) Novell at first, later WinNT and then Win2000. This opened up tons of new things to do playing games over it was one of the most important things (I think the 1st thing we played over the LAN was Ncsnips on Novell, then soon Doom and well the rest is as they say history). Then well the Internet became the next cool thing and opened up another dimension, online gaming and the creation of our Brotherhood of DIAL and it's tag [DIAL]. Until in the recent years most people had better hardware at home, since PC became cheaper to buy. And had a much better Internet connection than the club could afford. That's when the club started to loose a lot of its members over time. Which sadly ended its existence in late 2003. But most of the people who had become good friends over these years have stayed in contact through our Brotherhood of DIAL.I did join the club during it's peak years when the Amigas where at their prime too and had many many many many many many great moments there. Over the years I also got more and more involved in the club and I spend a lot (really a lot) time there helping out but also just having a blast with my friends down there (LAN parties every Saturday, who could ask for more?! no lag and you could yell at each other )So most of the [DIAL] people you see are from that time and where active part in this cool venture, that was the DIAL Computer Club. *story mode OFF*Hope you guys didn't fall a sleep?
