  1. dont forget: 1 guy to post about his new sig, even though it has nothing to do with the light bulbs 24 people to comment on the sig and on their own and so on and so forth
  2. ROFLMAO, A FEDERAL AGENT SHOT HIMSELF, Thats so funny, I hope it hurt cause that would make it even funnier, ROFLMAO :o
  3. Do not take this the wrong way: Have any of these distributed projects actually lead to any significant breakthroughs, advances, or research benefit yet? Just curious. That being said, I will take a look at some the projects, and will perhaps install one
  4. i seem to recall seeing it every 5 feet, meh, whatever, I am being unecessarily argumentitive
  5. im going to have to watch that movie somehow btw was the swearing really necessary
  6. holy crap, that stupid graffiti is all over HL2, you just noticed it?
  7. our school has totally clamped down on torrent, apparently there is no way to do it, but i will try the port 80 trick, but knowing our IAIT guys, they probably found a way around that block
  8. : ( Our school disabled all torrent ports
  9. we have the technology, we can make him faster, stronger..... I myself have been pondering making a backpack mounted coil gun (aka gauss rifle), but as i previously stated, I aint the brains of this operations. The problem with coil guns is that they are only 2% effective, so the backpack would need a motorcycle battery and a number of HUGE capacitors. Luckly, such things are easily accquired.... Stay tuned, I wonder what epsilon project will be? Its almost Friday, and we usually do this stuff on fridays, so we shall see.
  10. i see people havent watched the PSA on proper posting etiquette ; )
  11. cool! we experimented with electrolysis using beta and gamma devices, but even after an hour or so all we got was a funny sounding pop and a tiny flame when we ignited the H and O2. We discovered that the magnesium heaters in MRE's generate a heck of a lot more H2 in shorter amount of time. However, I believe should the need to create more hydrogen ever arise again (the original purpose was to create a bomb with which to blow up my sucktacular calc textbook, I have since decided to shoot it repeatedly with a Remmy 870, stay tuned for details), I think delta device should more than suffice for creating ginormous amounts of hydrogen. I think my friend would love to see how you created your device, please post when you get a chance.
  12. Where I am going right now (Rose-Hulman Inst. of Tech.) is the number 1 undergrad engineering college in the country for 6 years running. This includes CS, and software engineering. I personally am I software engineer, and can tell you that if you want to program, this is the place to come. Small classes, my biggest so far is 36, all the CS profs have phds from the major universities (Princeton, CMU, and MIT to name a few), you are required to buy a sweet laptop from the school that includes all sorts of software and comes in a hardware configuration not available to the public. The students are all nice people, there is a great learning support system (this college is tough, btw, a 4.0 in HS means didly here, sorry), and the campus is about as nice as you will get in Indiana. I could go on all day. Visit rose-hulman.edu for more info, but i am warning you the site doesnt do justice to the school. And just think, if you go there, you will have a TAC member as an upperclassman who can help you out with everything but HW cause I suck at it. : )
  13. another thread, killed in the prime of its life, sigh. If anyone cares, this guy updated his website to include a plasma, yes PLASMA, generator we built.
  14. OH THANK GOD!!! This may be old, but i can think of about 3 or 4 people who need to be forced to watch it over and over again
  15. oh dear god these threads are so useless, we can see your sig in all your other posts, if it is particularly good ppl will say something, otherwise they wont. sheesh. My Two Cents: I like the minimalist approach, seriously, its a good style, but the l337 is getting real old real fast, especially since you are definitely not a SVD "nub/****" (hey look! a compliment!)
  16. good luck! My friend works at Wright Patterson Airforce Base as a Research Assistant, and apparently everything they do involves lasers, so he was telling me how inefficient (12%-25% was it?) they really are. I hope your work moves to improve that rate! Those quantum wells can be tricky devils ; )
  17. so do i sense another future screw up who my tax dollars will be paying for his cell when he is being held for DUI or some other stupid crime.
  18. DEFCON replied to StateCop's topic in Main Hall
i have an axim, dont use it that much, but thats only because I am lazy. It is a very capable machine, especially with the wireless
  19. DEFCON replied to Enders's topic in Main Hall
dude, WTH? Thats was the most FUBAR thing i have seen.
  20. why do ppl keep asking about 3.0 when they know we cant say? Jeez
  21. Ok, so I go to a nerd school: Rose-Hulman Inst. of Tech. Number One undergrad engineering school in the country 6 years running, also home of the most hopeless nerds and geeks, especially me. Check out what me and my friends do in our spare time, since we are frat punks and dont feel like getting drunk: http://www.rose-hulman.edu/~neesea/ This is my friends website, check out the photos, and go to the projects page. UPDATE: The alpha project blurb has not been updated to reflect the fac that we added smaller capacitors and a new inductor to smooth out the waveform and increase frequency range. The device is now truly ultrasonic, and while ineffective against some people, it causes instant screaming pain in others! Also, to be fair, my friends do 90% of the work, me and a couple others provide funding, good company, and in my case a desire to know exactly what they are doing and how. I think I have learned more from these guys than I have in physics class.
  22. Creatine works well, I dont use it (im saving it as a last resort since it is kind of expensive), but one of my RA's does. Apparently it tastes really good in shake form, and it seems to work for him. Just be sure to get the stuff from GNC or something, and not Wal Mart. Myself, I use good old fashion sources of protein. I eat an omelette or scrambled eggs every morning, and through out the day, will eat between 4-10 hard boiled eggs. Occasionally I will have a plain hamburger too. Its to be working for me, I have noticed significant muscle strength and definition since I started working out on a daily basis about 8 weeks ago. Too be honest, I wouldnt use supplements, except multivitamins, unless nothing else is working, its unnatural and feels a little like I would be cheating. Just my opinion though. I was in a similar situation as you, except I had never been fit period, and over a year (almost 2 now), I have made huge strides, and I feel very rewarded knowing I did it without any extra "help", just exercise, low fat/diet/lite foods, and cutting back on sodas
  23. yes, not a fan of the FAMAS or SVD here
  24. good question, ico, i spend a lot of time trying to answer that myself, and at this point, to no avail. Let me know if you come up with an answer
  25. i wish i could sell some of my bandwidth cause I got it coming out the ying-yang
