  1. I actually found myself missing the toolbar immediately when I reinstalled everything fresh on my new system. I didn't have the computer running more than 2 hours and I couldn't stand it anymore and had to go get it. ><
  2. You actually reminded me of an experiance I had on Bridge at Remagen. I was on the EU side assaulting PAC. We took our side of the bridge and without realising it, I had "Set up shop". The bridge has 2 lanes, and a center area on each side. We had a walker in laying down suppressing fire from the center area and various vehicles coming down both lanes. I had them mined and whatnot, but what cracked me up is I ended up repairing every single vehicle that came thru there. I felt like I had opened up "Roach's Repair Depot". I didn't get alot of kills that round, but damn I sure racked up the repair points and felt like I was "Contributing". Anyway, I do agree with your assessment Redfrost, the booster is definatly vehicle heavy (although port has so much cover, infantry on infantry is very common). I've seen 2 walkers vs 2 walkers, 3 Walkers vs a Walker and Goliath, ect.... it's freakin' insane!
  3. Two of my co-workers saw it and had nothing but raves for it. They also reported their wives (Which went too) "pounced" them when they got home. So apparently there's something in the movie for everybody. Going to have to see it. As for reviewers, I don't take their word for it. Reviewers once said that Star Wars was so stupid, the only peaple who would be entertained by it would be peaple who get entertained by a flashlight shining on the screen.... and we all know how the Star Wars series went in the boxoffice.
  4. There are some really sweet unlocks. I picked up the "Motion Mine Bait" nades right off the bat. You throw one of these sweethearts, and all the motion mines in the area are drawn to them. After they hover over the nade a few seconds, they all blow up. Great way to clear the way for your armored guys, but I like to use them to spike vehicles who refuse to move into my mines. I've killed 1 goliath and several walkers by moving my mines into them using these nades. LOL There's a universal unlock that gives you boots. They enhance your stamina recovery and allow you to take less damage from falling. I wasn't bothering with the universal unlocks... but now I want those boots so bad I actually started unlocking that tree more now. Another nice note... there are extra badges and ribbons to win now, but they don't seem to award points. These new goodies actually award a free unlock! I've gotten 3 unlocks from Northern Strike Badges in the past week  Great booster pack, I highly recomend it.
  5. Too sick to game? Weakling! LOL JK Take care of yourself man, hope to see ya back soon.
  6. Bah, you'll be hooked from the first set of dogtags.
  7. I've also heard put, "Second place is just the first loser." "At these speeds, the tires will only last 15 minutes, but that's okay, you'll run out of fuel in 12!" LMAO! Damn, that car is just freakin' sexxy!
  8. I got Animal. LMAO Not enough questions in this quiz to be accurate enough tho, but funny
  9. I tried to get into CnC, but Generals was the only one that was any good... but it still doesn't measure up. CnC series is one of those games I have in my "Wait till it comes down under 20 bucks" list. Besides, do I really need yet another broken EA title? SC is everything I expected it to be and more. It's like playing a souped up version of Total Annihilation, and I can't get enough!! Only disappointment I've had with it so far is it has serious perfmance issues with Audigy sound cards. While I can easily work around this, it seems inexcusable that they cannot fix a problem that involves one of the most widly used cards on the market!!
  10. This is not the first time this has happened in Asia, won't be the last. I had a Korean friend who used to pull 48 hour stints of Everquest and fall asleep on us during raids. Must I've ever done is 24 hours.... and that was too much. Best I can do these days is 2 to 4 hours then I'm sorely needing a break.

  12. I had a month when things were way behind on my job where I worked 70 hours a week for 3 weeks. Man that sucked, but hotdamn, the overtime money was sweeeeeeeet!

  18. I bought SC the day it came out. Anybody who played Total Annihilation will absolutely love it because this game pretty much plays like it's sequal (it should, same designer. LOL) Klink is actually the name of the Tier 2 Arty, reaches about 3 to 4 Km and is great for medium range work. The Tier 3 is called "Duke", great for reaching 15 km. The Tier 4 is called "Mavor". Takes forever and a day to build, but will obliterate anything on the map no matter the size of the map. It's pretty much your "GG, I win" button. While I enjoy the other RTS's, TA and SC will always be my first love for 3 reasons 1) Theator sized campaigns, you literally fight on maps the size of a small country. 2) Artillery that actually has the range of artillery. I both enjoy using and living under the threat of it (always keep a squad of bombers on standby) 3) Nukes that are actually nukes, combined with collateral damage. You place your shots right, you can blow up half a base in a blink of an eye. My online name is RavenWulf. Hollar at me if you want to test this TA vet's wits

  20. I'd say the FA community is worse than the CS community, but FA has it's bright sides... it got The Armory it's start

  22. I know I'll eventually have to get it, so when I build my new machine this year, I'll be building it and choosing componates based on Vista and it's DirectX 10 in mind. This probably means I'll have to deal with alot of bugs, but I guess it's better to just get it over with. Hopefully in the next 2 or 3 months they'll shake out the major bugs.
  23. Married 5 years. My wife wasn't a gamer at first, but she does now. She loves Zuma Deluxe (her scores are scary, she kicks my ass at that game), MMORPG's, and occasionally dungeon crawls. She has an interest in shooters, but is too polite to subject her "noobishness" to her teammates. I try to explain to her that everybody is new at one time, but she's so darn considerate of other players, she can't bring herself to feel that she's letting her teammates down. The key to it all is compromise. I know I play more than I should ALOT, so I try to keep away from the attention intensive games that don't pause when she's around. If I'm playing when she's awake, I try to stick to something I can pause at a moment's notice so I can get up and help with the kids as I'm needed or just so I can occasionally "pounce" on her with affection to let her know I'm still thinking of her. Problem is, women have this "need" to "improve" what they like. If she's feels what you are doing is childish and is trying to improve you by getting you away from it, she does it because she loves you. If she didn't love you, she wouldn't care and wouldn't want your attention and to improve you. Problem is, we men tend to take it as "changing ourselves" and we don't like that as we like to be "accepted for what we are". Compromise is your best bet. Try to do things she enjoys with her, and gently try to get her to recipicate by playing some with you. You got her on the tennis game, so you're foot is in the door. I got a gut feeling it will all work out, just be patient and calm with her. And above everything, don't lose your temper or raise your voice about it (one of my biggest failings). Eventually, she'll come around. Point out to her that Gator is 50 years old and still plays, and he is definatly NOT CHILDISH. LOL

Mac changed my mind. He's got a good head on his shoulder's and made some excellent points. I feel restricting it is fine now.
  25. Pretty good points, my own personal notes... Pistols Nothing to add, other than an odd note that the 5-7 uses the same ammunition as it's SMG counterpart, the P-90. It has a huge clip for a pistol, and a great rate of fire. However, it's punch is lacking, so very few peaple favor it. It used to be nice when we had to buy ammo that ammo bought for your P-90 would work in your sidearm, but since the buying ammo part has been taken out of the game, it's nothing more than a wierd footnote now. Dual Berreta's - I consider these "Poor man's SMG's" Dual pistols with a good rate of fire. You'd be better off with a true SMG tho, but they do rate very high on the "Coolness factor", especially when you reload AR's For distance work, the CT FAMAS (or Clarion) works best in Burst fire. You'll be suprised how accurate it is. I pretty much use it in burst fire all the time, even up close. It's lower rate of fire forces me to be more patient with my shots and aim before I mindlessly spray and use up it's small clip. The M4A1 has an optional silencer. Using alt fire puts it on. For some it's preference, but at one time the gun hit harder with the silencer off, but has better control with the Silencer on. At any rate, with the Silencer on, it's harder for somebody to pinpoint where you are at long distances as there's no gunshot... just the sounds of bullet's hitting their target. May not work as well against experianced players, but may give you a couple extra shots before they find you. If the AK hasn't changed since I played it, it's first shot is always dead on and it hits like a Mack truck. SMGs The TMP and Mac10 are definatly meant to be "In your face" weapons, and are very ineffective past close quarters. TMP seems to work better at medium range. We had a guy named Statecop who loved this weapon, and did very well with it. MP5 is a very well balanced gun, especially if you love to spray. Saggi used to dodge back and forth when he hosed you down with this. We used to call it the "Saggi Shuffle". UMP 45 is pretty difficult to kill with. While it's 45 caliber rounds have decent punch, it is plagued by several issues 1) low rate of fire 2) sizable recoil and spray pattern 3) probably the slowest reload of all the SMG's The final result? Nobody uses the damn thing. I definatly agree on his remarks about the P90. It's an excellent SMG. I had a bud who used nothing BUT that weapon when he played CS:S and he was downright scary with it. SHOTTY's I've had some really crazy rounds using the pump shotty. If you can get in range and are good at getting your crosshairs on peaple's neck and head area, you'll rack up one-shot kills at suprising consistancy. I've had time's where I'll get 3 to 5 peaple without reloading and I won't be able to resist the urge to yell "THIS IS MY BOOMSTICK!" LOL The autoshotty was considered the "n00b cannon" in Beta. I considered it fair myself, considering it's hefty pricetag and huge recoil. They seem to have increased that huge recoil and decreased it's DPS over time. I hardly use it anymore myself. Just doesn't hit hard enough to make it worth the cost. With good aim you can get 3 or more peaple dead before reloading with the pump shotty. With the autoshotty you'll be lucky to get too between the rate which it burns ammo and it's low DPS. OTHER NOTES As most games now, you're accuracy goes down when you move and goes up if you crouch. However, the Halflife Engine has a wierd mechanic where if you stop running or crouch, you spray and aim snap immediatly to the "stand still" setting. Anotherwords, unlike the LMG's of BF:2142, there isn't a "cooldown" time where it takes a half a sec for your aim to settle when you stop moving or crouch. This is why you'll see alot of experianced players doing a "shuffle". They fire a burst at you, shuffle right or left, stop for a split second to fire another burst, then move again. It's up to you tho, crouching and firing bursts is effective as well, but you're a stationary target. Last thing..... get headphones if you don't have any. The footsteps in this game are loud, but I find with headphones it's easier to get a fix where the footsteps are coming from and be prepared. This means that sometimes stealth will come into play. If you find you are alone and can spare the time to move slower, walk if you can instead of run. The less info you give your opponates about your wereabouts when you are outnumbered, the better.
