  1. I remember my first Motion Mine. JCMoncur was there in the shadows declaring "Co'mon man, use it! Everybody is doing it!" Damn you JC! Now it's my favorite unlock, I can't stop using them. Ahhhh!

  3. If you want guns, play Anarchy Online... and it can be played for free if you don't mind playing without the expansion. That game will give you more guns to play with than you can imagine! Imagine that, a game totally free. I'm completely turned off to MMORPG's at the moment, I'm tired of paying subscription fees, but it dont' mean I don't respect those who chose to spend their time playing them. Too each their own.
  4. First 3 MUST HAVE unlocks are Nades, Energy REgen, and the faster Sprint. Then go any way you want. Equipment that seems good are.... 1) Both Assault guns peaple like, although most peaple get the Voss 2) If you want to play Engineer, the Pilum AVR and Motion mines are the bread and butter of this kit. This means you will probably have to unlock almost the whole kit to get both. 3) The Recon kit has what "Special Forces" brance and the "Sniper" brance. The SF brance gives you a decent carbine (Lambert) that some peaple like, but I'm not terribly impressed with. Make sure you use your "Field Upgrade" ability in game to test your next unlock before you unlock it for real. Anytime you are in a squad and you stick together, your squad will get points that eventually unlock these field upgrades and let you test one of your next choices for as long as you are logged into the server. This will give you the chance to try these upgrades without wasting a real unlock one something you just can't roll with. I'm thinking of going for the extra pistol/SMG ammo next. I play alot of Engineer and I'm actually getting pretty good with the SMG... but man I run out of ammo alot. If I go that route tho, I might as well go for the extra grenades after that. There's been too many times I wish I had more nades of any kind.

  6. Actually, I will say one thing defending MMORPG'S, especially WoW... World of Warcraft has guns. My Dwarf Hunter used a Blunderbuss There's your freakin' gun.
  7. Nadril, I have to be with stevo on this one.... EVERYBODY rolled Alliance on my server. I made the same choice you did at first, Night Elf Hunter. I hated being NE hunter number 894376571 so I made a Dwarf Hunter instead. Eventually got into a Troll Rogue and Undead Warrior. I came to the conclusion after playing both Horde and Alliance that the Horde had to more mature player. But I quit WoW... for good. Never going back. After the Tier 3 gear was made, I came the conclusion they were going to keep raising the equipment cap. Before too long, I figured you'd have to raid for 5000 hours to get that super uber Tier 57 gear they would eventually make. It was at that point I came to the conclusion I would never play a game where gear was the point of the endgame, and quit to go play City of Heroes/Villians and Anarchy Online again... Then BF2142 finally came out and I never looked back to MMORPGS again. Do yourself a favor Nadril... get out of this game... NOW... while you can. And Statecop... put down that damn WOW pipe already! sheesh!
  8. don't you mean hang up? Not Hand up?
  9. Klinks was nice, but Eskimo's first one was very easy to read, not too busy, and had that wonderful "Armory Green" background. Wish I had seen this sooner, I would of loved to put my rusty skills to the test.
  10. The reason the screen flickers from an EMP strike, Underspy, is because the game assumes your looking thru the visor on your Battlehelmet. The same visor that feeds your your heads up display, 3D map, and other cool features that soldiers might have in the future. Look at it from that point, and an EMP strike messing with your vision will make perfect sense. Also, keep in mind that the human body is made up of it's own electrical energy. It's not too far fetched to think that EMP might mess up your optical nerve signals as well.

Banning their accounts would be good for business 2 ways. 1) would make the legit players happy 2) if they ban via the CD Key, it would force the hackers to buy another copy of the game which = more revenue.
  12. For all we know it might be somebody trying to get hash numbers. It's a common tactic to hide sniffers and other forms of data miners in something disguised as a hack so they can steal CD keys or what not.
  13. Never took part in this poll till now, I voted to save money for 2 reasons.... 1) it's not hard to find another clan who has the same ruleset as ours. Finding one that's adminned well might be more difficult, but it's doable. 2) I wasn't so much concerned about the money issue as I was the "Admin coverage" We admin our servers well because so many of our admins play the game we support. I don't think we can do the SF server the justice it needs to carry our name.
  14. Well, one good thing... I can alt-tab now without crashing the game. That works better now.
  15. Stats were acting screwy again last night. I went on a server that didn't register any of my awards. Ended up getting 3 Bronze Badges I already had and the Good Conduct Ribbon for like the 3rd time now. They need to fix this, I've got an estimated 1700 points I really shouldn't have. At this rate, I'M gonna look like an exploiter and get reset.
  16. Something is definatly fishy about this patch. I was getting a framrate drop I wasn't getting before on a different server. Before I wrote it off to being the patch, I went back to our own servers which always run well. I was getting a framerate drop again in intense firefights... something I thought I had already tweaked away. Something in this patch is taking up more system resources, which may be why some clients aren't noticing anything unusual while those of us running ourselves right up to the edge notice it. Another thing I noticed.... it reoptimised shadows when I played again for the first time with the patch on..... that isn't supposed to happen unless your settings change, and I haven't touched them since I found that "Sweet spot" between looks and performance I like.
  17. I hope everybodies traditions are turning out as good as mine. My 6 year old just help me put up our Christmas tree today! Made me so proud to see how he's grown. I'm so happy right now I could almost burst.
  18. My opinion has changed little over the weeks. I still like Assault and the Voss the best. Not the greatest for long range work, but most of the fighting I do is close and medium range anyway where the Voss's clip size and high rate of fire rules supreme. However, thanks to "Big Bertha" I play Engineer pretty much exclusivly on Titan servers to deal with the larger number of tanks. (and swap often on maps like Berlin) I never realised how effective the Engineer SMG's are at close range until a couple weeks ago. If an Engineer runs with a couple assault guys, he can hold his own just fine in Infantry fights. I only play Recon for the badges. The Lambert is adaquate, but I find it lacking at long range. I severely miss my Voss when I play Recon. I'm struggling to find a Support kit I like, although the shotgun is starting to grow on me some.
  19. I remember the name, but I don't remember the person. Rings a bell.. welcome regardless
  20. My primary use of APM's is defensive. Everytime i spawn at a command point I drop my 2 APMs at either approach points or hiding spots that attackers like to hit said flag. If possible, I hide them in bushes or around corners. If I'm using a spawn beacon, I'll place them on the 2 approaches to said spawn beacon to defend it. Often, these flag points are back points and undefended, and the APMS can be rendered harmless or otherwise circumvented as their are no active defenders in the area. For the defense of flags, I doubt that my TK's would go up greatly if it was turned on. I've notied that 2142 does not have you spawn inside the flag cap radius, allowing this tactic to work without risk of getting your teammates. I'd have to stop using it to defend spawn beacons tho. :/ The real abuse of APM mines is the suicide rush that even I have been guilty of. There's chokepoints in Gibralter where 5 to 10 peaple will gather fighting. One suicide rush behind or up that chokepoint, drop a mine... 5 secs later you ahve 3 to 10 kills from the APM going off. Usually, your teammates are hanging back, you ain't gonna see much in the way of TK's from that obvious misuse. I'm begining to doubt that turning the friendly fire on would stop APM abuse... it'll only just piss peaple off who get TK's and hurt our friendly environment.
  21. Or stand back and let you man with a Zeller take it out... or have your recon guy sneak up and pick it up (I think they can pick up Demopacks too... I will test this tonight)
  22. I would much rather deal with APM spam than the amount of TK arguements it's going to generate. I've learned recently you can crouch or prone past these mines, it's not that hard. I've also learned that in addition to the engineeer defusing (from a decent distance I might add), recon can pick up APM's they get close enough to. Also, the Zeller sniper rifle can blow them if you hit one with it. Remember, we run our City Map server with 44 players on a map made for 36. This is what creates the target rich environment as well as the intense firefights we enjoy. That many peaple crowded in such a small space is bound to create alot of TK's if we do this. Turning Team Damage on would render this part of the game pretty much useless... and make getting the Explosive Gallentry Badge and Good Conduct Ribbon's very hard to attain. I almost never used mines in BF2 because some retard always ran into them and gave me TKs which is why I never bothered going for the motion mines first. It would figure that now that I'm activly trying to unlock them, we'd do this. *grumbles* APM's are only really an issue on the Titan server. They make it nearly impossible to open up the "assault the titan" possibility. If you want to enable TK's on these things, I would suggest you do it on that server... because it could be argued that it's pretty much impossible to defuse those things around corners or use other methods of getting past them when the corridor they are in is so activly defended.
  23. I once read that Abraham Lincoln, everytime he was read the casualty reports during the Civil War, he wept. Those who witnessed it, said he did it in a way that seemed dignified and appropriate... and seemed to shame those who did not weep with him. I think I finally understand now......
  24. My favorite part of the holiday... LEFTOVERS! Especially turkey sandwiches!
  25. I am suitably impressed
