  1. Wasn't it less than a week ago when I told the SC that I missed Shotty's "You do realise, Roach, those are Hax!" remarks? :o
  2. I think anybody with common sense would know it's not serious. It's just the humour on it is so off center that it makes most sane peaple go WTFH? He missed a very important fact about the Danny Tanner character... Danny was a clean freak. Let's remember what granny always said: "Cleanliness is next to godliness" If I die, and see that bright light at the end of the tunnel.... and it's Bob Saget's face smiling at me with that sappy smile when I get there... I think I'll head to warmer real estate intead
  3. That Thompson is sick as a room sweeper. My personal record is 3 on a clip. I've been cleaning house with the MG42. I plan on posting a few of my favorite MG postions soon.
  4. We once allowed one of our guys to have a scene from "Saving Private Ryan" where a German sniper get's shot thru the scope into his eye. However, that did not have copious amounts of blood... and niether does FA or any other game we play. This pic is in the catagory of "Slasher Film", and I feel it is unappropriate for this forum. I do not expect to be questioned on this, but I must ask you to kindly remove or change it to something less questionable in a reasonable amount of time.
  5. Jeez... we need that in a game. SPAM PWNAGE!
  6. Oh.... doh. LOL Okay. Added to my favoite's list.
  7. I'm also curious of the ruleset, and the friendlyness of the population. I love my current fav listed below, but any game is much more fun when I got TAC guys to frag with  Anyway, my current favorite server (As it seems we don't have our own DoD:S server at this moment) is Fraggers Central DoD Source (64.34.92.238:27015) In the 4 days I've played on it, I've observed that the ruleset seems pretty simple... no profanity with a language filter in place. I've seen players fussed at by members of the FC clan for unfriendly behavior. Kicks and Bans are pretty quick as are the warnings. I myself was warned for a slipup (the word was Bastard) but it was let go after a simple apology. The FC members themselves seem pretty friendly, always the first to say "GG". Our kind of peaple. The server itself suffers a little performance hit at the begining of every round, but seems to smooth out within the first minute. Only time I have an issue with hit registry's is in bigger battlefights when the server is full (24 player server) but I suspect that the issue is mostly on my side. This is where I'll most likely be if I'm playing DoD unless we get our own or somebody points out a better server, usually at about midnight Eastern.
  8. Yah, the shovel icon is funnier, but I find the whole fist kill thing a blast. I play on Fragger's Central DoD Source (64.34.92.238:27015), that clan run's their server with a ruleset that is very simular to ours, good friendly bunch of guys. Anyway, I was on that server last night playing on Anzio as an American. I was making a rush for the bridge and I got gunned down by an MG42 on the sandbags on the bridge. No biggie, come back, try to sneak into the sniper's spot to get him from above with my Garand, and he get's me anyway. By this time, I'm pissed off, so I use the water route to get in behind him. I close the distance quickly as his teammates have spotted me and are shooting.... I throw a small burst of bullets into his back, then smack him down with a left hook to the back of his head for what had to be the most satisfying kill of the day  I loved it... not as funny as my 3 man shovel kill, but fun nonetheless. OMG, that Thompson should be nerfed.... I was clearing rooms of 3 to 4 peaple with that thing on a single clip! Seems to have no recoil with a good rate of fire. Even the MP40 has better recoil... sheesh!
  9. Actually KFC... bazooka's ain't half bad. In fact, you will see a heck of alot more of them because of their increased effectiveness and excellent sidearms. It seems to be the method of choice when dealing with snipers. Hmm, K98 was nerfed a bit it appears. I was wrong with the whole "kill with a toe shot" remark. I did a couple leg shots with the thing and didn't kill my target.
  10. I agree with both of you on several points. I agree that the american's need another way into the church on Avalanch. I'm curious to find out of setting up a MG42 at the entrance of the church is going to be as big of an ass pain for the American's as it used to be. I used to set up so the barrel was just over the rubble in the hole, effectivly keeping me far enough inside for snipers to see, and making it difficult to lob nades into my nest (as the nades that fell short, the explosions seemed to be stopped by the rubble my gun sat on.). I'm thinking with the addition of the rifle fired nades, this position will be harder for me to hold... and I'm wondering if the explosions will now reach over the rubble I rest my MG on. I also agree that we need more maps. However, I'm assuming they'll be releasing more maps for free in the near future. I didn't play with the rocket classes at all Mac, so I wasn't aware of the weapons with them. Knowing that's where the M1 Carbine went, I'll probably be playing that class a bit now.
  11. Well.... I hate to admit it as I've played the original DOD quite a bit... but I actually got LOSt when I first got into any map! The lighting, the textures, everything looks so different it took me about 5 minutes to get reacclimated to each map. They made some minor changes to the maps... some I liked, some I didn't. I was most anxious to see how the Garand handled.... good god, that thing has kick to it now... but after racking up a couple of one shot kills to the chest, the thing feels right. I don't know if they bumped up the damage or they fixed the hit boxes so head and chest shots register as such... but there was never a single shot I fired that I felt "BS, he should of been dead". This is a drastic improvement from the previous game. So then I went german... and whipped out the '44... now.. it always had a bit of kick.. but jeez... I guess they wanted to make it the German balancer to the American BAR because it sure as hell handled like the BAR! I was so hard for me to handle I found myself going to the MP-40 instead. I experimented with the K98 some. As per the last game, it's a one shot kill even in the toe. However, it seemed considerably less accurate to me when it's not sighted in. If you can rack up a few kills with this thing, you got my respect. I no longer view it as the "Insta Kill Rail Cannon" I used to percieve it as. As usual, the MG's ruled the roost in ground control, with the German MG42 seeming to have the edge over the American 30 cal in this ability. However, I suspect somewhat that the German's just seem to have better positions on their side of the map to set up their MG's than the Americans. I was a bit annoyed to see no Brits in the game, I was a big fan of the Lee Einfield. However, it wasn't a big issue. To be honest, I was more annoyed at the disappearance of the German MG32. I preferred that gun of the MG42, and it pissed me off to see it gone. I was slightly annoyed to see that the American Grease Gun was missing as well. But seeing as it seemed I was the only person who ever used the damn thing, it's no suprise :peace: And lastly, the German Semi Auto (who's name escapes me at this moment) is gone from the game as well. I didn't use it much in DoD. I like the fact they added the ability to "cook off" grenades, which has put an end to that whole ridiculous "Throw a nade at the ground, pick it up, throw it at the enemy" technique found in the original DoD. The addition of the rifle-fired grenades is an interesting twist. Both the Garand and K98 now have the ability to fire grenades from special attachments put on the front of the barrels. While you cannot "cook off" these grenades, the greatly increased range makes this handy for shotting a nade at that far off sniper that's annoying the hell outta you :peace: Gameplaywise... the game seems lacking. It's better than the original DoD... but for some reason, I'm liking Call of Duty better. But what the hell, it's only 20 bucks. It's worth that much at least. Some random map changes I noticed.... Avalanche.... it's now easier for the Americans via the building in spawn to get to the the building overlooking the plaza. They changed the arch to a straight on bridge. They changed the angle of the access point... I used to set up a MG covering the American back door at that hole but they've changed the angle so much this isn't effective anymore. They added a small gun slit in that building that overlooks the gun nest checkpoint that's usually so hard for the Americans to grab and hold thanks to the german balcony above it. That gun slit covers both the next and the balcony, giving the American's a decent chance of holding that point. However, the map still seems a bit slanted toward the Germans. Flash... still a spam fest with the center flag a bit more difficult for the American's to reach. However, the wall that surrounded the german tunnel leading to their back trail flag has been taken out, giving them less cover and giving the American's a second or two more time to shoot any Germans making a run for the middle flag. All secondary routes have been made easier to access, taking out the annoying need to balance on sandbags and jump thru windows. Anzio... I still hate this map Both sides have been given extra secondary routes to the first flags, the Church has a totally new layout, and more cover has been added to the church plaza flag. The building with the broken wall that the german snipers liked to use to cover the bridge has been replaced with an open balcony with little cover for some reason, and the bunker has had a wall taken out to make access to the bridge from the german side slightly easier. Donnor... Changes seemed minimal, map was never a badly designed map to begin with so this is no suprise. What's noticably missing is the bunker. I guess the designers felt that the bunker was too easy to hold for which ever side took it first effectivly blocking off a vital secondary route to the other team. It now seems to be some sort of field with a couple fences and a couple small buildings now... fights back there seem to get pretty fierce as it's a sizable shortcut around the center flag.
  12. Game doesn't play too bad on my 1.8 ghz AMD. I do have 512mgs of RAM and a x800 vid card, but at 800X600, the game still looks good at modest texture settings and performs considerably better than CS:S for me. Pity the gameplay isn't much better from the original tho :/ At least it feels like they finally got the Garand right... which was all I asked.
  13. No, I'm south of the Mason Dixon line here in Georgia. Guess you never heard me do a Y'all in Ventrilo I apologise for stretching the rules on my earlier post. I was under the influence of about 4 shots of whiskey and wasn't thinking straight. I know better, no excuse. *slaps self around a few times*
  14. I live in Georgia... my take? Let's see... all those parents who's kid rode the bus is now burning gas taking them to daycare. Need I say more? A big waste of time IMO. **** Edited out political statement. Sorry guys, I know better ****
  15. I've been in rent to own for 4 years now... I've been thru 3 companies now as my location get's bought be several different rent to own companies. Now, I've learned my location is up for sale yet again. I guess in having to pay our employees displaced by the hurricane even with their stores destroyed, Rent A Center has decided to close a different set of stores and not pay peaple like me. Go figure. We already have bids in on our store... one company has one of my old bosses that I wouldn't mind working for again. But still... this crap is getting kind of old. Pray for me, chant a mantra, or at least sit on the sidelines and hope. I got 2 kids and a third on the way... I need something more stable and it's time I start looking for a different job. Because unless I get some serious skillz, "Professional Gamer" is not an option. :o
  16. Interesting... local critics gave it a C... not bad, but not worth getting gouged on the ticket prices to see on the big screen.

Somebody converted all the CS maps for DoD, so I don't think it would be much of a stretch.
  18. Sheesh, beating a dead horse on this issue aren't we? Bury the dead dog known as FA and let's move on already!
  19. Total Annihilation ROCKS! I modded a bit for that game. I was one of the founding members of Total Annihilation Evaluation Crew (TAEC) under the name WhiteWolf. I helped Alpha test Brave Sir Robin's "Uberhack Mod". And created the ARM EMP mine, and the CORE Widowmaker. Lord Orion rewrote the AI for this game to be considerably less braindead at one point, and even created his own mod called "Warmonger". I adored this game Oh.... for those who don't know... Chris Taylor, the creator of TA, is at work making the "Spiritual Successor" of TA is now in the works under the name "Supreme Commander". Here's a link.... althought the website is still under construction. http://supcom.gaspowered.com/ There are some sneak peak previews out there, if you don't mind doing a little hunting.
  20. Good thing you make good money Mac, otherwise those teens would be eating you out of house and home right now
  21. Always played FA with the default config.... Used nothing but the Sterling and Saiga 12k.... Always managed to keep a positive kill to death ratio in my last days of playing... How did I do it? Practice, Practice, Practice, and Practice some more. Rates and other tweaks can help your performance. But handicapped or not, playing over and over again with whatever settings you play on is what improves your performance the most. Pity those who download their skillz are too lazy to do that. As for FA... even when I was having a bad day, I did like the game. It was the jerk off's who had no respect for their fellow gamer that drove me away in the end.
  22. I'm afraid I must agree with EA on this, which doesn't sit to well with me Ranked servers are all supposed to have the same basic rule and weapon set to properly reflect the abilties of each of the players. If each server changes or bans what weapons you can or cannot use, it does not properly measure the players who play on it against the ones who play on the pure servers. I agree that such a ruleset would be fun to play from time to time. But keep them on the unranked servers.
  23. I was fortunate to have played alot of Desert Combat, BF:1942, and BF:Vietnam before coming to BF2, so I knew what to expect. Many times, the game can be called "Battlefield SpawnRape"... unfortunate drawback to the otherwise great franchise. Unadmin'd friendly fire servers SUCK. Doesn't matter which game you play. There is so many ways to grief or abuse it. And quite frankly, I find BF2's TK punishment system quite sloppy. But don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the game when I get up the gumption to play it on my somewhat slow system. Long as I stay out of firefights involving more than 15 peaple, I can usually function and hold my own. I feel your frustration.. but love the game too much to put it down.
  24. Aye, the back door on the APC. The back of the Turret seems soft too

Where I come from we call them "Lookielous", because that's the jackass on the side with his friend Lou saying "Golly gee, Lookie Lou at that <bleep!>"
