try to log out of steam by going to settings then log back on...if that doesnt work let me know.

Gator is our fearless leader and puts the most time into everything...most likely he spends more time on this than he does at his real job. Yep those are all HLSW files and you should make another folder for it.

I tried to put my FA files in the CS folder one time before I had HL downloaded and it didnt show up under third party games. So if this happens to you move them to the Half-Life folder.

With the sniper rifle you MUST aim for the head. As for the lag it may be due to your internet connection. What kind of speed do you have? This game is made for broadband only not to mention it takes a fast computer. I find servers that sometime casue me to lag also, but all and all it is a decent game. It has a cool mod for it called desert combat, but you see what I am playing now....so I would most likely save my money if I were you.

Anyone getting kicked get this? I got it after the map change a few minutes ago.

have you checked the handicap thing in Control Panel...WinXP has it I think ME may also....anyway it slows down your keys. IF that doesnt work try let me know....I would also suggest WinXP but if you dont have a fresh copy at hand then you may want to defrag your system. Let me know how those work for you....If that doesnt we will try some other things.

Sounds like your system is having trouble keeping up or the priority on your steam app is set lower. Someone suggested this as a fix for some of the steam problems out there when it first come out but that can be chalked up to those people who also suggest typing kill in the console.I can help you with this but I need to know a little about your systemsuch as...........- OS?- How you connect? (with hlsw or just through steam)-You system setupPost these and I will give it my best shot.I am also moving this to the steam help desk as others may have suggestions but from what you describe it sounds like something I have seen before.

They released an update last night.

Well valve has started checking CD keys. This means the first person to register the CD key is the only person that can use the key now. If you have more than one email account you MUST use the first one registered with that key.. If you are still having problems please let me know and I will give you some contact info. I have been talking to one of the guys at Valve and he said they are working on a web based management system. When this happens you will be able to change email addresses and transfer keys.

I found this in the steam forum.......................HALFLIFE-Platinum error Fix WHO EVER NEEDS HELP ON THIS ERROR OK LISTEN UP REAL CAREFULLY! OK go to your start menu and click on run And insert this regedit Next you will see 5 folders on the left look for hlkey_local_machine ok now you open. now choose the folder called software you will see a bunch of files look for the file named valve it should open up a folder named steam next, it will say default, installpath , rate delete the install path next, exit out of steam and re log in it will ask you for your cd key put in your cd key and than exit your steam and if that doesent work you have to keep opening and exiting until it asks you for your cd key again when it asks for your second time you have to put in your cd key twice (!WHEN I SAY TWICE PUT IN UR CD KEY TWICE IN A ROW DO NOT SPACE IT JUS TYPE IT IN TWICE and than hit ok and it should work.

They are removing multiple accounts if you have more than one account try the frist one you registered. If you cant find it let me know and I have a contact at valve you can email.

I think we do a pretty good job of taking care of problems like that when they pop up.

Ok....If you had an account during the beta test then try that one....or the first one you created. If none of those work email email this guy TaylorS@valvesoftware.com if you know you are the only one that has your key and you still cant get in. Send this guy your key and all email address you have registered with......Keep in mind if you give your key out to anyone and they registered it before you...you are out of luck...go to the store and pick up another.

Wellsy most of us who have been here for a while understand that everytime you see starts doesnt mean it is a bad word but you have to understand the way the word filter works. It looks for letters in a word and if the combination of the ones in bad words like documents well that word its self isnt bad but it filters out the bad part. So it would look like do***ments. I am sure you know this and it is also for anyone else that doesnt know. They only time an admin is going to say anything is like Gator said...if you talk around the filter, language in the mic, or if it is something that we may have forgot to add to the filter. I guess what I am saying is dont worry about it other wise. Notice to all others...please let the filter do its job. Unless they spam the chat with *********************************************** line after line...you know what I am talking about, but that goes for anything not just bad language. Well I am not so sure norm.... I had it on my old yahoo email address and it didnt like that one either. For some reason when they wiped all the beta testers emails well it didnt wipe them off so.....I had to go back to my email address when I was beta testing steam. Taylor said that is without question the one I will need to use. He said he doesnt understand why it wasnt taken off but it wasnt. Anyway I tried it and got to play tonight...so one more STEAMID but I can play yet again.

Ok guys they have turned the steam key validation off because of some many problems but when it comes back online and you have made more than one email address you will not be able to play but on the first one or atleast that is what they told me. The problem was the first one I created did not work and the one they told me to use was the last one. At any rate if you are having this problem please contact Taylor Sherman ( TaylorS@valvesoftware.com ) and he may can get you fixed.
