WinXP!I am running WinXP and couldnt even think about going to 98. With that much ram I wouldnt choose anything else. I am running WinXP Pro and I have 1024MB of Rambus and it runs great.

You must not have the latest version of FA or either you do not have the latest version of steam. Try to sign out of steam then reconnect and see if it dowloads an update.

No sir a third party release a patch but it was not microsoft. The third party patch had spyware in it and it made a buffer over flow problem. So it was pulled microsoft still doesnt have a patch out...when it comes out I am sure it will be an autoupdate but most people have that turned off. GREAT game! I have been playing in since the mod come out and it has come a LONG way just like all mods, but it is really good now. They have other mods for this game too that are fun. I found a GI Joe mod for all those people my age who had the GI Joe stuff as kids. They have all the same vehicles.

I found this after I crashed and talked to other that have. This is from the steam forums. This seems to have worked for me. If you get a crash after restarting/relogging into Steam!!! If after the latest update, you get an error looking something like this... steam.exe (main exception): Win32 StructuredException at 0163048B: Attempt to write to virtual address 2439276314 without appropriate access rights. STEAM.EXE - APPLICATION ERROR The instruction at "0x1000ecd" referenced memory at "0x016470c0." The memory could not be "read." Here is the fix Go into your Steam folder, and delete the file "ClientRegistry.blob". Start Steam, and it should work. This is a known issue with the Steam developers, and I am sure they will be working on a fix to push out soon. Well short of a virus which it doesnt sound like it sound like a memory issue. WindowsXP usually does a great job taking care of memory but it sound something is a foot in this case. I have seen this before however if you get a an error message and then it goes away after you click ok then it is not memory but a error with XP. If you see that click on details and copy the info if you can so we can try to track it down. If it is an error problem with how windows is working then the best way short of fresh install would be to use the restore option to send your OS back to an earlier date when you know it worked.Tell me a little more about how long it has been going on and any other wierd stuff your system has been doing. If you see any error messages make sure to let me know what they are. I fixed my Lt. home computer the other day and his was doing something very much like this but he got an error first. By checking the info/details on the error I was able to find what program was crashing the system which btw was a new printer driver he had installed.As I am sure you know windows can be like practicing medicine .....there is not always a cut and dry answer.

Hey BTD true if the virus has not been added to the list it will not find it however if you download the updates every day there is a good chance you are not going to be one of the very first people to get it or if you think you are submit it to them so they can get the detection out for everyone.

Dont worry BTD it is not a virus. Most of the bad ones wouldnt be able to be found that easy anyway. Just keep your Nortons Antivirus updated and you will be fine. If you get ride of that you will have major problems with your XP.
