  1. That was a very good video and he explained some things very well. There was a lot of good advice, especially when dropping into combat areas to only target enemies that are already getting fired upon. That works well no matter what rank of combat you are and especially works well in combat zones which are especially tough. He shows how to make decent money exploring, and even shows how to use the FSS while doing the "Road to Riches", however he leaves out an important detail, using the DSS. It makes a lot of sense while doing the Road to Riches to Discovery Surface Scan (DSS) the target worlds. It will double the amount of credits and experience earned. So I highly suggest when doing the Road to Riches to not just honk systems, but to also DSS target bodies. He makes absolutely great comments about mining. For example, just skipping past the famed overlapping hotspots. I've mined in all these places and always found just a decent hotspot at a pristine ring to produce just about the same amount of material in the same amount of time. No need to travel forever to get to these spots people post in the forums. Just find the nearest one near you instead. Mining pays really well too and is a very good way to make credits. It is dangerous though, pirates will not hesitate to kill you for your cargo, so you need to get used to pirates and figure out how to outsmart them all, whether they are NPCs or real people. I can't believe he lays out how to get to unlocking Shinrarta Dezhra so fast. I had no idea that it could be unlocked by just mining and selling so fast. I unlocked Shinrarta by exploring for a long time and heading out to the Elysian Shore. One more thing a new player should do is to pledge to a power play faction. I recommend Aisling Duval to unlock prismatic shields. Just do it, don't wait and it doesn't really make any difference to day-to-day gaming in Elite. It takes four weeks of pledging to unlock these items and even if you aren't ready to learn about power play, at least you when you decide that you want a power play item you will already be eligible to get the prismatic shield. Thank me later for that advice. I wish someone told me to do that when I first started playing. Also, don't play in solo, play in open. That was another thing I didn't do for the longest time and really, open is just funner. There are people out there who are jerks but not many. Most people just o7 and wave and greet you instead. All in all, that was a pretty good video. Check out his other videos too, he has a really good suggestion on ship build for mining.
  2. I don't know how I forgot Lave Radio... https://laveradio.com/ o7
  3. A lot of people don't know about dogfighting in Elite Dangerous. If you fancy dogfighting. There are a few modes to try it in. First, you may try just fighting NPCs. You may also try to go into open mode and then try your hand fighting against open players. Someone looking for a fight is always around the corner. Or you may try the Close Quarters Combat mode, or CQC. Below are a couple of videos highlighting this mode which is often overlooked by most people. If anyone wants to do some dogfighting, his us up in Elite Dangerous!
  4. There is a lot that can be done with Inara. Want to find commodities? Just click on the Galaxy tab, then go to commodities and it will show nearby cheap goods. Want some cheap gold? Search for it using commodities and look for best exports. Here is the problem though, every other commander in the galaxy is also using Inara, and if you want cheap gold, well they do too. The chances of getting any cheap gold is slim because chances are, it's already been purchased up. A savvy commander can make millions easy with gold and other precious metals. Gold can be purchased for as low as 4,300 credits and can be sold for as high as 67,700 credits. That is a profit of 63,400 credits per ton. A python with with a cargo hold of 284 tons will make 18 million credits per full cargo hold of gold. A fully laden Type 9 will make 49.7 million credits per full load! The problem is getting it, because other commanders buy it too, and they frequently buy it out. There is a way to do it though using Inara and finding stations that have gold that isn't under the normal commodity search! It will take a little exploration though... Here is how to do it: The trick is to look look for extraction and refinery economies that are suffering from an infrastructure failure. In Inara, search for Galaxy -> Nearest -> Minor Factions -> Infrastructure Failure. This will pull up factions nearest you suffering from an infrastructure failure. If no commander running Inara updating tools visited a station that has an infrastructure failure, it won't be in Inara. So there is a chance you will be the FIRST person to find the cheap gold! And if you're lucky and limit your search to systems with a large population, you may find a very large supply of it! I regularly find stations having over 10,000 tons of precious metals and each one of those is worth over 600 million credits, or more! Now you know why I don't run Inara updating tools!
  5. Thank you Gator! The links page looks absolutely great! I believe that the Norton alert is a false positive. Virustotal is a frontend for several anti-virus engines (Fortinet, Alienvault, Forcepoint, Sophos, etc...) and there was nothing malicious found, VirusTotal I'm not sure why Norton would flag it. Surely something occurred that Norton didn't like at some point in time but the fact being that there isn't even a single other engine on Virustotal flagging it is suspicious. The page doesn't require any personal information. That link points to the best place to discover secrets of the BGS, bar none. I will be contacting the owner of the page (Ian) so he can submit a dispute with Norton.
  6. The review was a bit old, before the Horizon's update and that was before I ever even started playing. It didn't sound like he knows about all the trader tools in game, especially galmap commodity filters and commodity price market indicators. Those features could've been included after his review, I don't know. He didn't cover trade route data and how to get it. I primarily do trading in Elite Dangerous and I regularly find deals using the in-game tools that I don't find on 3rd party tools like Inara, as matter of fact, if the deals I find end up on Inara, they get exploited and I lose more profit! So, I don't run Inara updating tools because I don't want them finding out about the deals I discover. A lot of people just don't know how to find cheap gold and silver or how to find high buying starports for example and they have to rely on Inara. It is true that the marketplace doesn't update prices if you haven't been to that system before, but there are still ways to know if a commodity is sold at certain systems and to even know their prices, all without using 3rd party tools, but you have to know what you're doing ;-). For example, I know that a High Tech system celebrating a public holiday and also just recently out of a war will offer some of the highest prices for precious metals and I don't have to go to Inara or have ever visited the system to know that. Also, he said there are no player-to-player missions, like bring materials to other commanders. There is now player economy. I routinely have a large demand of tritium on my carrier's marketplace and put up large purchase orders worth hundreds of millions of credits to other player cmdrs. I often buy and sell other goods too as the market demands. This is all passive too because I wake up the next day and find that someone has purchased all my beryllium and military grade fabrics materials, or other goods. As matter of fact, my whole trade and money making scheme is player economy driven. He also didn't cover PvP at all, piracy, powerplay, or player minor factions. He really didn't even cover exploration. For some people, all they do is PvP and there is a whole science to it. For some, all they do is explore. Some people just do player minor faction (PMF) gameplay all day long and that is just what they do. I think some people in The Armory would absolutely love PMF gameplay. There is a whole player driven politics governing bubble-wide player minor factions expansion, retreats, and wars with factions engaging in long distance conflicts over rogue PMFs trying to unfairly capture systems and call them their own against local agreements. The Coalition is a council of faction ambassadors governing player minor faction conduct. If the Armory becomes a PMF, I suggest we join the Coalition. There are also a number of smaller coalitions that make up their own rules of engagement in their region of space. I have been doing this for some time and now want to do this for The Armory if/when we get our own player minor faction in the future. o7 CMDR RogueSteward
  7. Want another credit hustle? Follow the Road to Riches. Equip your ship with a detailed surface scanner and input your vessel's specifications into the Road-to-Riches calculator and follow plotted route. Get to the system and use the Full Spectrum Scanner to resolve planetary bodies. Use the Detailed Surface Scanner to map the selected planets. The values of the scanned planets are attached to this post. Good luck cmdr! See you out in the black o7 CMDR RogueSteward
  8. I do Robigo missions all the time. It's a good way to make credits and materials. Here is a good build to do those missions and doesn't require engineering, Python Passenger Ship. Before getting started, I suggest to build the ship somewhere in the bubble and ship it out to Robigo because there are hardly any parts to complete the build in that region of space.

  10. Playing in open is actually really fun. I would suggest everyone do it, even when starting off. There aren't many people willing to club baby seals, but there are some. If ever interdicted by a player pirate, I really do suggest to not get upset, and talk with them. Usually, they are after a little cargo, and I bet if you just tell them you can't give them any cargo because it's mission related, they'll probably just let you go. If you notice someone just kind of being harassing in some way, just try to leave if you can. It's a rare occurrence because most people just o7 and salute and are willing to protect fellow players than gank them.
  11. Hey everyone! If you own the game, please log in and go to the squadrons tab and search for "The Armory" and send an application. Tom or I can approve squadron membership there. We are trying to get at least ten members to join up so that we can submit a player faction request to Frontier. This would be great because Frontier would place The Armory in our own system! If you need any help at all setting ship controls and general ship build advice, or need some credits, let us know! See you out in the black! o7 CMDR RogueSteward
  12. Main difference? Can play Elite in the recliner with surround sound. Other differences, have to either use the only approved hotas or the xbox controller. I actually kind of like this restriction, it puts everyone on a level playing for PVP. I use the elite controller and am doing just fine. The graphics aren't as good as the PC, however if using the Xbox One X, the graphics are very nice. The graphics are just fine though in my opinion. I can't really think of other differences at the moment. It's the same game but with Xbox standard graphics and controller restrictions. I really like this game. I didn't think I was going to like it this much, but now I'm pretty much hooked haha. I think it's kind of like WoW in space.
  13. I'm looking forward to this update for sure. Really looking forward to the upcoming announcement too. I gotta admit, I have fallen for this game hard, but not on PC, on Xbox One. I am pretty much addicted to this game at this point.
  14. I think Squad looks pretty fun
  15. I've always just used file explorer and did it manually. I don't remember the exact instructions but they're online. It's pretty easy to do.
  16. VB Cable is a good program. I use it to stream over-the-air digitally encoded HAM radio broadcasts to a decoder.
  17. I think it looks good man.
  18. At least it was just the SSO token and not passwords. They just had to revoke the tokens. Still, major fail for EA
  19. I will be getting this game
  20. The smog on that planet has gotta be horrendous!
  21. Since I work in IT now, it seems lately anymore the last thing I want to do is sit in front of a computer more even if it is to play games. I just about gave up on PUBG but still have it installed just in case. I love PUBG but sometimes I just can't seem to find a match in first player mode and I don't like waiting 10 minutes and then nothing. I am working my way through the ARMA 3 campaign mode right now and playing against bots right now. What's your gamertag in Steam FallenWarrior? That makes three of us right now playing ARMA 3. I see Jenksterman playing it still too. I'll be working from home every other week come summer time which will be kind of nice, so I will be on teamspeak during the day if I'm not too terribly busy.
  22. ooh nice, love this song. Get the chills listening to it and extra fun doing the cha cha with a fine lady Not many people know how to dance to it where I live
