TA FA server needs some attention
CD, while good, has the fatal flaw of being incompatable every time that Steam has an update. Until this issue is resolved, there is no point in using CD because of all the "up and down" headaches it causes. It's not that we don't like CD, it's just not practical with the way Steam works. As for HLG.... I think it was put up more to put the accusations of cheating to rest. With it off, there was more suspicians than you cn shake a stick at. With HLG up, we hear less of it.Damn pity we even have to put the stuff up if you ask me.

Do you have Road To Rome?
I was fortunate to get the deluxe edition of BF1942 which included RTR. I later purchased Secret Weapons of World War 2 which I also enjoy.

For my Thief 3 comrades... a must read
I know some of you have been playing Thief : Deadly Shadows thru the harder settings. I am afraid I have some bad news. Apparently there is a bug in the game's AI. Anytime you reload the game from a saved expert difficulty game, the NPC AI resets itself to NORMAL. So unless you play thru a mission from begining to end without reload, you are NOT playing the game at the difficulty you set it at. The game goals will be right (Loot needed, objectives needed, what not) but the greatly improved AI and damage NPC's do will not be in full effect. No news as to when we can expect a fix. Eidos apparently laid off a bunch of the peaple at Ion Storm who made the game when it released. And the poor Xbox users may not even see a patch. I'll keep you all posted if I hear more. This is where I got my info. http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/06/08/news_6100241.html

My official Thief 3 review.
I was considering playing as a "ghoster" at one point. Always wanted to try it. What a "ghoster" does is ZERO confrontations. No knockouts, or anything. Not seen, not heard....Sounded like a great challenge, so I'm gonna try it once I complete it a couple more times to learn the layout and whatnot. You ever find the wine the widow wanted in one of the early missions? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Opinions?
pushed wrong button. Take away "not my cup of tea" and add "Sweet Jeezus That's Rockin". Hehe, that's what I get for casting a smart alek vote before listening.

AA DAY
Mout I have had terrible luck with peaple stepping on my grenades and alot of friendly fire issues. River Basin has been where I've been rebuilding my honor. My honor was 6 at one point, I think I'm at 8 now. Easier to make out who the bad guy and harder for idiot teammates to follow you nade. The easiest way to gain honor is be sure of your target and survive. You get an insane amount of negative honor when you shoot teammates. In comparasen, you get only -10 for each time you die. So it's better to risk a -10 than a -60 PER SHOT for hitting teammates. You only get 10 points for every enemy you kill, however you get good points when your team succedes in their mission and you survive. You can play on the Army's Official TRAINING servers if your honor is below 10.

My official Thief 3 review.
ALOT of tries Leafy? Excellent I working thru it on Hard now and am pleased that the difficulty levels mean more than higher restrictions on who you can knock out and kill. Higher difficulty means more enemies with higher accuteness and AI... and I'm loving it!

My official Thief 3 review.
40 bucks.... all I paid for this.... I'd pay 50 for it, I enjoyed it that much.I'll admit, I was a bit nervous about getting it. The previews were promising and all, but deep down I was nervous because the game did not have the old "Looking Glass Studios" label the first two I enjoyed have. However, I'm pleased to say that Ion Storm not only created a fine product, but they kept the story and gameplay true to the Thief universe. As mentioned, the game had been moved from it's previous "Dark Engine" which, while a decent engine had some limitations. It was instead moved to the Unreal engine, which to date, has never disappointed me. The visuals even in low res were quite stunning. Right down to the shadows that fall around you.The new lock picking system is excellent. This is quite possibly the best change they have made to the game. The newer system of forcing the player to move his mouse around the tumblers to find the "Sweet spot" is much more interactive and at times adds to the tension that makes this series great for me. (how can picking a lock add tension? Picture yourself in a room full of animated statues you can't kill easily, your picking this lock in the room, and the corner your in is somewhat lit exposing you... you get my drift?)As usual, the storyline was brilliantly written, complete with the usual plot twists and suprises that are trademarks of this series. What truly made this game was the tension. Thief is not a game that you "combat" your way thru. Even moreso in this version as Garrett's sword has been replaced with a small dagger and has lost the ability to "parry" incoming blows. Therefore, fighting headon usually leads to defeat unless you are REALLY good. You must depend on striking from the shadows, catching your opponate off guard, or avoiding a fight completely. And when in a tough situation, this can get a player sweating as he sits there on noisy terrain knowing the slightest move can cause a NPC to hear you... and yet said NPC you are trying to avoid is heading to your corner....The levels were beutifully done and thought out. The mission that puts you in a haunted insane asylum/orphanage scared the absolute hell out of me on several occasions. (They took a page out the movie Aliens by not showing you the foe, but dropping hints.... until it raised to a point where you jump out of your skin when the foe finally lashes out at you in a dark room with nothing but a flickering light to show you a glimpse what your fighting)Thief traditionally is a Linear game. However, Ion Storm attempted to take some of that out by giving the player the freedom to do what he choses between missions. Between missions you have the freedom to visit your fences, buy equipment, break into buildings to steal items, pickpocket peaple on the street, and mug or kill if you choose. Kinda like Grand Theft Auto 3 in a way.I realise alot of you guys like shooters and action games. But I would definatly recomend you guys give this a try, it won't disappoint.

Toughts on BFV 1.01
I actually had the opportunity to use the M60 for what it was meant to be, artillery support. The map was Ho Chi Mien. 3 of my US buds were crossing the river so I went prone on the bank and just opened up the damn thing over their heads because I saw at least 2 Charlie hiding on the other side. My comrades got across safe. Unfortunatly a 3rd VC popped me off with a type 56.I'm not sure what to think... it has been nerfed perhaps a little TOO far. It did need a rate of fire decrease, I'd be okay if they increased the prone accuracy a bit more. But I do well enough with it as it is not to be okay with it not changing soon.As for the M14 Law combo.... I like it myself.I've heard server admins have the capability to adjust the kits the way they want using the "Custom" button as opposed to Conquest or Capture The Flag. I'll play with that a bit tonight and see if I can't confirm that.EDITOkay, I played with it a bit. Seems you can decide which kits appear in the game, but you cannot alter the contents of the kits. But you do have the option to disable any of the weapons from 1-6 in all the kits. Anotherwords, if you disable weapon 2, all pistols will be gone from the game. Disableing weapon 1 disables all knives... ect. So in theory, you could create an all knife or pistol server if the mood hits you.You also get the option to change what vehicles spawn in the various spawn areas. If you don't want Huey Slicks, you can change it to a Cobra or Duke. Think the F-4 is too cheap? You can change it to a Corsair. OR, if your feeling really crazy, you can set a particular vehicle spawn to just spawn any random vehicle of it's type in the game! (random heli spawn, random boat spawn, ect....)Lasty, you can alter what army's appear in the map. I haven't seen if you can create a US vs US game... but I succeded in removing the ARVN from one of the HUE maps and replacing it with regular American soldiers. All of this is accessable by creating a game using the "custom" setting as opposed to the Conquest or CTF setting. All these options can be found under a new option that appears when you turn "custom" on.Note, these were tested using a Listen server. I'm not sure how it would work using a dedicated server.

Look at my new sig, made by Shotty!
"First, tho shalt pull out thy holy pin. Then, tho shalt count to 3. 3 Shall be the number of the counting, and the number of the counting shall be 3. Thou shalt not count to 1 or to 2, unless tho moveth on to 3. 5 is right out." - Amen

shottys
Actually, Punisher brought up a point I was going to say. With the exception of a few maps like Durandel and Marie, most of the maps we run into involve ALOT of CQ combat. And for this reason, the shotties are ruling supreme because the terrain allow most combat to occur at close quarters.I've noticed since the small patch that it's gotten harder to get kills with my Saiga, but it's too early for me to say if they're still overpowered or not.I have a suggestion guys, let the game play itself out for the next couple weeks then form an opinion. New strategems shall evolve then we'll see what needs fixing. On a side note, I can't do jack with my Sterling anymore, and I'm pissed about that.

Good or bad?

I have a flight stick now
In exchange for figuring out why his computer's motherboard wasn't posting, which took me about 2 hours of on and off work to figure out it was just memory and a PCI card not plugged in right, I was handed this for my services. http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/x45.htm I was pleased to find it works in all the Battlefield games just fine, but it's taking some getting used to using a flight stick vs mouse/keyboard like I've been doing. *chuckle* Judging by the ratings the stick is getting, I'm getting a feeling I got the better end of the deal.

Americas Army
I'm severly missing voice communication. There is no way to tell these retards quick enough "don't go thru there, I thru a grenade". Although I doubt that would help... Frag out and a 5 second fuse and they still trip on my 'nades. ON RIVER BASIN NO LESS

Americas Army
I'd much rather make a bigger issue out of stupid rambo MG'rs who run ahead right after you've thrown a grenade and destroy your much worked for honor points. Now that's something worth yelling about on a game board ;)Love the game, would keep playing if it wasn't for stupid teammates screwing up my honor score. Seems a shame that one of the few peaple who gain access to Sniper school hates to play because of that crap. *cackles evily as he plays with the M82 again***EDIT I removed the political aspects of my reply. Please respect forum rules and keep politics out of this. I am very close to locking this thread right now because it's starting to get a bit heated. So drop the debate about the political aspects of the game so we can discuss the game itself. If this continues, not only will I lock the thread but I will delete every reply that get's into the politics off it. Keep it civil, keep it about the game men.**
