  1. Hmm, wonder if there's a way to use the wheel on your mouse to adjust throttle? At anyrate, only flying I do is in a FrogFoot or A10 on bombing runs... and that's using the keyboard for throttle and my pitch while the mouse handles my roll. Seems to work for me.As for Heli's... I'm fine until I try to turn.... then I inevitably get caught going around and round and round and round till I crash.
  2. LOL, most my kills come from the Iraqi VSS, 116 kills. C4 is second with 111. Now that was a suprise.
  3. Ever wonder how peaple are figuring out where you are before they see you? I think I may have stumbled upon the answer... and no it's not a hack.Several times today, I have seen an enemy's name thru an obtacle or hill. It seems if your pointer lands just right on an enemy, the name will show up regardless if you can see them or not. If a guy is really good at tracking with a mouse, they could theoretically keep the crosshairs on you until you are visable. I've tried scanning buildings with my crosshairs for a peeps in buildings for a bit, and found at least one person in this way. I'm thinking of following some more experianced players around and see if they do this themselves. Secondly, don't back up to walls when your prone, your feet will stick out as mac was kind enough to point out to me one day. I waxed a guy on Lost Village who's feet were sticking out in this way. I saw he was on the second floor and tossed a grenade in the window.... end of story. At any rate, try it for yourself. I'll try to get some screenshots of this up the next couple days.
  4. Hackers don't exist in the numbers you percieve them today.... quite frankly, I think CD prevents accusations more than it prevents cheaters. I'm not denying that it works because it does, it's just been my observation that you see more accusations of cheating than you see cheaters when CD is off. ;)By all means tho, please put it on, it's nice to think there isn't any cheaters about.
  5. I am sick to death of hearing about juries and judges letting off the scum of the earth and throwing the book at the cops because of "Excessive Force" blah blah blah wah wah wah. Jeezus, and they wonder why we have so much crime... because we spend more time tying up the hands of our law enforcement then helping them.Damn, I mad!
  6. Strafe modifier key is an archaec throwback to the days of Doom. Back before the days where peaple aimed with a mouse, they aimed with a keyboard... and the strafe modifier key was the key you held down to turn your left and right keys into strafe left and right keys instead (much like holding down the walk key in Halflife makes run forward into walk forward). I guess there's a few peaple who might still play that way.
  7. Let's see... first off, the tickets.... we had them considerably too low, so we turned them up to learn the maps better. For this reason, I assume, we have 2 rounds per maps as well.I'd like to keep the 2 rounds per map myself, as the first round alot of times get scewed in favor of whichever team ended up with faster connectors thus leaving the other team at a disadvantage until the slower loaders could fill it up. However, maps are terribly long right now, so I would think that when we're comfortable with the layouts of the maps, we should seriously consider knocking the ticket count way back again. Not as low as it was before, 75 tickets is terrible. I'd say knock it down by half of what it is now and see how that plays out for awhile.I personally don't have a problem with allowing peaple to attack the home spawn. There are alot of times where keeping an enemy grounded or killing their artillery can be key to getting things rolling. It's these folks that get in a tank and sit on the repair pad and just wreck havoc with the spawn area that bugs me... you pretty much need a real concerted effort from the team or some brave and lucky teamate to get close enough with C4 or a Mine to get rid of the guy. I don't worry about it if they get on, repair up, then leave... but when they just park there, it really get's my goat. A few other peeps seemed to be irate about that, I was curious if it really bothered anybody else. All other issues I have with the game aren't anything we can fix. Like needing a better AA against Jets, and my weapons sometimes not switching right when I use C4. I also think there should be a way you can disarm C4 because quite frankly it's too easy to hold flags with it. Otherwise I've been happy with what we got. I haven't run into any maps that I really despise yet.I really enjoy these maps, and suggest keeping them in the rotation:Bashra NightsBerlinStalingradBocageLost VillageI'm finding I don't enjoy the wide open maps as much as I do the city maps. Mostly because it's so hard to cross these areas when you got godlike pilots in the sky and no real effective AA vs jets other than other jets.
  8. Point, run the gun wide open, spray toward the head.... all while circling strafing... really nothing too it. If I get at about medium range, I usually start firing in short bursts. Expect to reload alot.My "Sterling Rep" loadout is full heavy (since you have to be close, you need the protection), claymore, and extra bandages. Marks I then Noma, after that it depends on my mood. I tried Noma first once, but I seemed to be working 30 percent better with Marks I on so I stuck with it. Just make sure you kill your target on one clip, otherwise your dead without Noma... either that or learn to sprint, weave, and reload all at the same time.
  9. Up to you. I'd personally get Max Payne myself. But I'm one of those strange parents that doesn't have problems allowing my boy to witness video game violence.
  10. TA is NOT officially switching over. A few of us are just trying the game out for variety sake. I personally love doing that. While I like Firearms, I like variety in my life. And I'm quite gratified to find that a bunch of peaple I like to frag are the same way In fact, I'm seriously thinking of starting a thread to see what other games some of you have that we can play.... like Need For Speed or what not.
  11. If we keep using Vent tho, we may want to consider setting up team channels. I've noticed that the BF1942 engine and Vent work wonderfully over each other. I have had no problems sending BF1942 to background to make adjustments in Vent.
  12. The game is a helluva lot more fun when the crew is on Ventrilo and you get almost a full server of TA guys :lol:Carl - Ungodly pilotGator - No slouch in the cockpit either, scary when he's got a helicopterSam - Good with Helis, loves to spawn camp with tanks :PNorm - Loves his artillery... will amuse himself by playing with guided missles the whole map.Me.... I can't fly worth a damn. About the only thing I'm good at is tanks
  13. 22 glorified beebee gun? Last I heard, nobody goes squirrel hunting with a beebee gun. Sure it has a wussy sound and no kick, but I treat one with just as much respect as I give my 7mm Mauser.
  14. Ah yes, the variety is nice in this engine. I tend to rotate my tasks around a bit to keep the boredom down. Try (key word being "try") flying for a bit, then drive around in a tank, man an AA gun. ect.....IQ... well, if it's a pub, don't expect to see alot of it.I think you are judging the game too harshly. You are expecting a finished type game from something that is still new... and you are expecting team play where there isn't gonna be... I can't vouch for the game quality down the line, but you do know your regulars on the TA server at least "try" to make an effort to work together.
  15. If you want to get down to my roots, my child, then you must go waaaaay back... to a man named Duke Nukem..... "Hail to the king baby!"
  16. The Lamers and TKrs we can take care of. Once TA gets a server established, that kind of thing will be taken down to a minimum. (play without FF for one, FF sucks for anything but match play)As for the rest of it, please keep in mind the game is still beta. I played v.5 last night for about an hour.... not sure what to think yet... but I'm willing to give it a couple weeks and see if it'll grow on me. I've played Beta games in the past, I expect things to be rough. They did say they haven't done an Optimization pass to the game yet, so we should expect a bit of lag. Only time I get a framerate drop seems to be when I first spawn in, which will suck if that spawn point happens to be under attack. Not sure I'm gonna like the planes in this version, they move too fast for me to control. I'm a fair Spitfire pilot in BF1942, but these jets in DC are too much for me.At any rate, I'll give it a chance before I dismiss it. I think it has hope.
  17. Morrowind Game of the Year Ed (so now i have the expansions)Battlefield 1942 Delux editionAnd some clothes I needed.I'm happy.

I've done deleted DoD to help make room for BF1942. I got tired of peaple doing an insta 180 and shooting me in the head with their K98's.
  19. My little spy *cough, the wife, cough* just informed me the Inlaws are buying me a copy of BF1942 for Christmas! If that wasn't enough, it may even be the delux edition... who knows? At anyrate, I should see you all in DC soon

If I'm a german MGr, I tend to prefer the MG34. For some reason, I don't do as well with the MG42. I hate having to worry about overheating, and the MG34 frees me of that worry. Of course it sucks I have to reload the assault drums more often than you change the belts on a 42, but my overall kills to death ratio is better. The American 30 cal kicks ass Americans actually did well for MG's. BAR works both as an assault rifle and light MG work, and I prefer the 30 cal over the MG42 (but not over the MG34).But the brits do need work. The Bren kicks too much for assault work, it's top loading clip obscures your firing vision, and it doesn't have a big enough clip to do any serious MG work. That, and I'm begining to think it has both the weakest damage and worst accuracy of all the MG's. Not that I haven't done well with it, I just do better with the other MG's.

Lots of peaple are griping about the Garand now, even after the fix that allows the Garand and K43 to register more chesthits. While the Garand is getting more one shot kills than it used to, it still doesn't compare the railgunnish power of the K98 and the Einfield. Most British vs German maps turn into rifle wars as the Brits really don't have a good heavy MG yet.But still, I have plenty of fun in the game..... some of the crazy stuff you manage to pull off from time to time makes the game fun. Like killing 2 or 3 peaple with one bullet from a K98 or Springfield... or today when I set up an MG42 in the lower entrance of the church on Avalanch and got 4 kills the moment I opened fire. Last night on Charlie, I was on the allies and lobbed a grenade on that seawall mortar to the right and laughed my ass off when a friend of mine on the germans was sent flying over the wall onto the shingle from the blast of the grenade.I still maintain the game has great weapon balance, other than the Garand needing a twinking the the Brits really needing a heavy MG, I'm satisfied with it.
  22. Let's see... bad attitude, belongs to a group of peaple who typically have a bad attitude... doesn't seem to care that he's offended peaple....Stick it to him.
  23. Wish I took a screenie, but back in 2.7 on sandblast, I decided to toss a primed Stieldhand down blue's tunnel without really seeing who was down there.... I was rewarded with 5 kills from one grenade. My fave moment, however, was tearing into a Iwo Jima tunnel at full tilt with my Saiga and discovering about 4 of the other team. I jumped the sandbags and started pumping buckshot into the ammobox. Had to relaod, I thought I was so dead... but amazingly, I lived long enough to reload and finish off the ammobox. While I died in the explosion, it was sweet seeing the other 4 guys bite it too.
  24. OMG! LMAO! That was funny... cheezy, but funny.

Yah, I rather like Battlefield 1942 myself. But dang, I love DoD. Aimbots are an issue, I agree. Nothing like watching a guy go 75 and 14 last night with him using nothing but an Einfield bolt action rifle. Half those deaths were from my MG32.. I think the spot I picked in the window was screwing up his aimbot, because he kept trying to run out into the open... I guess to an angle where his aimbot could see me.But what can ya do eigh? Hehe. At least most the servers in DoD that run with FF either admin them well or have decent autokick systems. I can't find that in BF1942 easily.
