Played with him some last night... he seemed very familiar to me. Now I know why.... not disappointed to find out he's gone for good.

Well, it can also depend on training Hero. Somebody inexperianced is going to feel the recoil a hell of alot more than than one who knows the gun intimently. I recall my own experiances (when I was a skinny teenager) firing my dad's 30 "ought" 6 Springfield for the first time and nearly getting knocked out of my bench by the recoil However, as I learned to seat it properly, stand or sit properly, the bastard gun stopped nearly killing me with it's recoil.I haven't fired a gun in over 10 years.... so when I got my old 7X57 Mausser back, it was time for some practice.... thing kicked alot harder than I remember. A box and a half of ammo later, I was starting to remember how to handle the thing. Again, experiance taking control and making the gun easier to manage.My point? Your both right. One of you is talking from the point of view of one inexperianced handling a gun, another is talking from the point of somebody fully trained. In the end, it's a stupid argument that has nothing to do with the question at the top of the topic.

I'm not too einthusiastic about it myself. Experiance has taught me that most the CAL clans are filled with a bunch of egomaniacs with the mentality of a 10 year old. I have absolutely no wish to participate in that kind of battlefield.

I actually entertained a theory that a poor man canidate could probably run a decent campaign in this day in age thru the wonders of the internet. Pop up a page, start sending out links... but it is really hard to compete with the mass media of TV without the big bucks, especially when the inevitable mud slingign starts.

I used to be one of the "have-nots". I dragged my sorry carcaas out of the gutter, got myself trained thanks to a goverment program known as JTPA, and got myself working.Now I'm paying off a home and hold down a decent job.Point being... I WORKED for this. I wasted 10 years of my life blaming the rich for all my problems. In the end, it was only ME holding me back... not the rich like some peaple would lead me to believe. It wasn't nearly as hard as the naysayers would have you believe. Oh, yes, I even fought my own form of prejudice as I was a long haired male at the time. I fought the stereotype of being "Some stoner" or "Hippy Love Child" and managed to make a success of myself thru my own blood and sweat.I had a "Hand Up", not a "Hand Out" like some of these programs that our out there. Giving peaple free money for just sitting around popping out children sickens me. We need more programs like JTPA that give the money straight to the peaple who trained me.Cop, you are right. Christians need to get off their asses and go out there and help peaple. Problem is, they're so caught up in their little witch hunts half the time nothing gets done! I was once blessed (yes, I consider it a blessing, the experiance taught me alot) with poverty. I lived in a homeless shelter run by a church... a church that was more concerned with making themselves look good and shoving their dogma down my throat than really helping us.But that's beside the point, we can sit here and talk about how peaple need to do this and need to do that. But how many of us actually do it? Do you realise how much of a better world this would be if every single one of us, regardless of religion or creed, took the time to help?? When was the last time any of us did anything just out of the goodness of our hearts? When was the last time you gave to a charity without thought of the tax writeoff? When was the last time you offered to help an elderly neighbor with her yard chores or do her shopping? When was the last time you took food to a grieving family?I'm sure you all know that answer... very few of us do... and this is why the world is in the shape it's in. The truth of the matter is, WE'RE ALL TOO LAZY TO DO IT.So as a result, we tell our goverment to do it. We're too lazy to moniter what our kids read and see, so we ask our goverment to regulate television and have certain web sites closed down. We're too lazy to go give that poor or sick person a hand up in life, so we ask our governement to do it for us. We're too lazy to learn to be responsible, so we ask our government for the protection to destroy our unborn children).No, I don't hate my government... I despise humankind. The stupidity and lazyness of mankind is so stupifying, it absolutely amazes me that a God can take an interest in us and show mercy.We kill each other in the name of our gods!We commit atrocities upon ourselves!We argue about these innane and stupid policies, but don't get off our asses and do anything ourselves!We complain about the goverment, but don't vote!But who the hell cares, right? I'm just whining again... But shoot, I sure as hell feel alot better having vented that.I didn't start this with the intention to vent. But as I thought about how I dragged myself out of a dead-end life to where I am now, I find it very hard to be sympathetic when I hear other's caterwaul about how the rich are keeping down or exploiting the poor. And the more I think about how many peaple complain about how the world is in such a sad sad state but so few actually do anything, it made me furious.But as for the subject at hand.... Bush... seeing as most my views mirror that of the Republican party... he'll have my vote... even though I don't like him much. Because quite frankly, I have yet to see a Democrat or Independent that I mistrust less than I mistrust Bush. Such a pity the ballot doesn't have a "none of the above" box.

I've got very wierd view, but consider myself a "Moderate Conservative" because while my views are mostly conservative, I keep an open mind and am not afraid to see another viewpoint.Communism - An idealistic society where everybody works to the best of their ability, pools all their money into one pot, then has it given out to everybody equally. Nice system, but always doomed to fail due to the inherant lazy and greedy nature of mankind. The later days of the USSR proved that. Workers would work feverishly in the early part of their day to make their state mandated quota, then stop working because working any harder wouldn't get them any extra money. Greater rewards usually results in peaple working harder. This is why Capitalism works.Anyway, my views usually fall like this...National Defense : Dems for some reason like to cut our defense spending. I can't stand for this! I cannot fathom why somebody would want to weaken a nation when you have dangerous despots out there who would love to take a free shot at anybody who looks weak.Gun Control : Well, other than the obvious... which is criminals will always get around the gun laws leaving those of us who follow the law defensless against them if we're not armed... there's this little thing called the second amendment. I don't think many peaple realise that if the peaple don't have a means to fight against their own corrupt government, that governement will be free to take away their other rights. I mean, if they take away our right to bear arms, what is keeping them from removing the freedom of religion or press?Separation of church and state : This is where I bang my head in the wall in frustration because of some of my fellow republicans. 10 commandments should be written in your heart, not on some graven image in a building paid by taxes. Keep religion out of our government establishment, but allow the peaple to do what they will on their own property.Abortion : This one tears at my heart in ways I can't explain. In my eyes, if you stand by and allow the blood of innocent lives be shed and you don't do a thing, you are just as guilty as the murderer. This is why I'm not pro-choice. But, this is a decision that tears at me... because I feel for these women... I really do. But, I feel we'd be better served trying to find a way to make Abortion unnecesary. And this is how I conflict with your traditional conservative, TEACH BIRTH CONTROL TO OUR KIDS! Let's not fool ourselves... No matter what you believe, natural forces are telling our teenagers it's time to mate. And it's a shame our society does not prepare them to be adults at that age like it should be. They are gonna be tempted... they are going to do it. THEY SHOULD BE INFORMED. Less unwanted children this world has, the less Abortions there will be. I'd much rather teach my son how to use a condom than have the life of whatever unborn child he's sired on my hands.Taxes : I don't know why Democrats feel that they know how to spend my own money better than I do. 32 and Married to a wonderful wife here in Georgia USA. I have a 4 year old son and another son due in March. Wife plays alot of games with me, we used to play Everquest, Anarchy Online, and Dark Age of Camelot.Not everybody can understand what draws the gamer to game. Some peaple are just the type who like to test their reflexes, intellegence, and themselves against other peaple who are like minded. You can beat the snot out of computer controled opponates all day if you want, but nothing beats besting another intellegent human being who's at a simular skill level as you. :)This is my main form of entertainment. When I can afford it, I go watch a movie or rent DVD's, but I almost never watch the trash that's on Prime Time TV these days. I do enjoy a good book, and am currently working my way thru Robert Jordon's "Wheel of Time" series.There are 2 types of PC gaming, console and PC. And if I were to choose one for my own child, I'd say PC gaming, which is what we do in FA. The reason being is you learn much about the inner workings of your computer while gaming. Nothing much eats up system resources more than a game. And nobody learns to tweak out a computer more than a person who plays shooters because alot of us are crazy about getting that extra frame per sec to help us have a chance in competitive play. Shoot, I often joke with my customers that a real hardcore gamer tweaks his PC just as much as a drag racing crew cheif tweaks out his cars.Not just learning the hardware, but also learning how the software works. Many games come with tools to add your own custom maps or addons to the game. I once had the privilige to create extra units in the game Total Annihilation. I learned alot about the inner workings of game software from that experiance. At the same time, I got to express some of my creativity by coming up with both the cocept, then creating the models, then writing the animation scripts in ways tha would make the unit unique in the game.As for Firearms specificly.....First and foremost, if your with a good group of players who communicate and aren't selfish, and learns the most important skill you'll need in the workforce.... TEAMWORK. You know the player, the sniper who reports guys who get's by him... the medic who goes out of his way to make sure defenders are healed up... the brave soul who rushes forward in the face of fire to place that vital Artillery Marker... and the guy in the back who has the rather boring task of loading and firing the mortars.... the teammate who's content to be your wingman and throw himself in front between you and your attackers so you can carry the objective to victory. And NOBODY can deny that teamwork is a skill you need for the workplace.As for the TA server.... this is the most popular server in FA for a very good reason..... WE KEEP THE ENVIRONMENT CLEAN. Undesirable, cussing, grief causing players do not stay long if there is an admin around. And even if there isn't, somebody can and inevitably logs the behavior and reports it so steps can be taken to ban the player from the server.But personally, I have my doubts that it's the game your dad is having problems with. You may want to sit down with him and have a serious heart to heart talk and get to the root of the problem. This may be just a symptom of something else. Heck, it may be just him worried about your grades or that you don't go outside enough. Valid enough concerns. Heck, even I have to get away from the computer, grab my rifle, and hit the woods for some time out in the sun.Pity hunting season is over and Fishing season hasn't begun. *sigh*I don't have much to offer the clan, except an ear if peaple need it. Well, that and I'm well accuated with the Rent to Own business and have a degree in computer graphics. Anything you want to know about Photoshop? I can probably answer your questions.One last thought... the greatest thing you can learn online is the different cultures. I've learned more about other countries just talking to it's native peaple than I ever could from some stuffy history book. I've learned to admire the fighting spirit of the Brits, enjoy the company of Canadians, and get a quiet chuckle out of watching a Dane try to speak English! And anytime I run into a true blue Scotsman, I start asking pointed questions trying to learn about my ancestors. Can't beat that anyday

Don't feel bad, I'm usually one of the last in the game too... and currently broke. You are not alone. Just use the time to get up, stretch, get a drink, love on the family and pets... lord knows you'll have enough time too.

And I'm saying, it's not just the whole Snowcrash crap, because yes, that is old news and should be dropped. There's a few of us that just have a problem with the attitude of other certain members of DoL.

I don't think it's so much the fact he hacked while he was in your clan, but the fact he was defended by your leader before your leader learned all the facts. It made it appear that this kind of behavior was allowable. You all would of been better off saying "We're investigating the matter and will get back to you later". That would of covered your buts. It's great to back up friends, don't get me wrong... but don't complain when your friend's rep drags the rest of you down, because that's just the way the world works. Sucks, doesn't it?Snowcrash aside, more than one of us has stated we have problems with the behavior of some of the other guys.

My first impressions of DoL came from the mouths of Snowcrash, Falcon, and Crime Is My AntiDrug. All those folks left a very bad taste in my mouth. And as they were the only folks I knew for awhile, I hated the whole clan because I felt they represented what DoL was all about. Couple with this that peaple I like and respect left you guys, my view grew even dimmer.My view has changed somewhat as I've met your cooler folks. However, it takes a long time to change some peaple's minds.

Just as well, far as I'm concerned. The impression I got from alot of the teams was the game was more about overblown egos than having a good time at a competitive level. I won't be shedding any tears over it.
